In 2010 both the Giro and the Tour started in the Netherlands, he made it to neither Italy nor France that year. I actually thought he'd done the same stunt in the 2009 Vuelta...
You think he'll be a bit more lucky starting in Denmark?

2008 was a very Italian affair but was won by a Spaniard. 2009 was altogether more cosmopolitan, since di Luca's removal there's only 4 Italians in the top 10. Same goes for 2010 where, though the three strongest in the mountains were three Italians (debatable whether you count Nibali or Evans, but Nibali was the one that was there on Mortirolo), and an Italian didn't win a stage until stage 12. Last year featured only 2 Italians in the top 10 (though since Contador's DQ they were 1st and 2nd).Bavarianrider said:I hope non italian riders have a shot. Would be really boring if this was an all Italian affair.

The first week of the Giro looks worryingly bad, but I don't think it's designed as an all-Italian affair. The Giro's been becoming increasingly cosmopolitan.
Bavarianrider said:Actually i really hope someone hammers the Italians. It's obvious that the organisiers wanted to create a parcours which suits the Italians yet again. Hope they get punished for this.
