Don't know for certain about the other two, but Nibali is riding the Vuelta to prepair for the WC. Since Kelderman doesn't. There aren't a lot of great stage race for climbers during the autumn either, he hasn't shown anything in classics...I don't see what he would really lose if he doesn't reach top-form in the rest of the season by riding a good Suisse.

Because that ****s up your preparation for next season as well.

I think this is a misunderstanding coming from his/her name. I always thought LS was female because of the ending Libert-ine. I associate that ending with women's names, such as Martine, so I thought Libertine was the female version of Liberty. But I think "libertine" is a noun in english, meaning "who is free" (or something similar), regardless of gender, as in the band "The Libertines". AFAIK LS has never commented on the discussion (as is his or her good right)

It's an English noun meaning depraved pervert.

That's exactly the problem; you might feel great after the Giro and think it's good to capitalize on that, but at the same time you risk doing too much. In 2011 Kruijswijk went on to compete at the NC after Suisse, where his form was already rapidly declining.

Sometimes resting after a GT is better than keeping on building fatigue, and possibly stretching it beyond your limits. Why do you think Nibali, Majka and Uran won't race until late July?

If the start list is correct, Betancur is going to Suisse as well as Kelderman, I fear the worst for the rest of their respective seasons.

What killed Kruijswijk that year was doing the Vuelta. As long as Kelderman doesn't do that he'll be alright. He says that he thought the Giro wasn't that hard, which would suggest he isn't that tired either.

Don't see any better candidates ftw than Kangert. He is peaking while the rest are building form, and he performed in the Giro despite being held back to an extent.

Several teams seems to have more than one GC rider:

Garmin: Hesjedal, D Martin
Shack: Kloden, Monfort, Schleck
Blanco: Kelderman, Mollema, Kruiswijk
AG2R: Peraud, Pozzovivo
Lampre: Scarponi, Ulissi
Saxo: Kreuziger, Roche

etc.

Hopefully some of these resources will be used to really help the main captain (or make the race) instead of all the wheelsucking.

LS is a computer application, surely. LS v2.0 will be out soon, complete with a working knowledge of West Sentinelese and average gradients of lunar hill climbs.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up! When a poster explained what "libertine" means I could not believe it - not what I would have described LS by the posting style! So this makes much more sense.

Gesink got 4th here last year. That's quite close...

And maybe Tejay has a better trainer, who knows how altitude training works.
