Guys, I don't know what you're on about, Portuguese cycling is as clean as the screen of a smart phone. Nothing to see!
That's the one thing that I've wanted the UCI to do for years.Federação divulga normas para inscrição de equipas continentais
A Federação Portuguesa de Ciclismo divulgou hoje as Normas Particulares para a Filiação de Equipas Continentais em 2023. As alterações face a anos anteriores visam a credibilização do ciclismo profisswww.fpciclismo.pt
The portuguese federation decided to make the biological passport mandatory for every rider and the cost will be supported by the teams, unless the rider is under-23.
They also decided that none of the staff, coaches and DS's of the teams can have anti-doping violations in the past.
There was already a form of bio passport system in place, that's how Alarcon got caught.I thought the Portuguese conti teams were already under some sort of bio passport? They said as much when the Porto raids kicked off in the spring... or was that just PR?
It wasn't mandatory. Only some riders had it.
Apparently some on twitter are accusing the anti-doping officials of being Benfica fans. Can't speak Portuguese so I have no way of verifying it but it sounds like some truly exceptional work.
Tbf, they need proper Volta watts, not those bushleague WT watts! This is weeks news but Glassdrive's DS, Ruben Pereira, said that their involvement with the Maynar links was only related to training plans for their riders and they ended their partnership in August 2021. I wonder why they ended their partnership right in the month of the Volta which landed them 6 stage wins and the appearance of Super Maurio, who only didn't won the GC because in 2021 he still couldn't control his bike.
They're a tough crowd, to not be happy with training plans that give them this kind of results.
Or there could be a passport case ongoing. To me this reeks of a silent ban/deal behind close doors
