They used to do something similar (just showing each circuit once and then how many times it would be ridden noted separately) with the Trofeo Alfredo Binda which is in the same area:

Yeah, I think it was prudent to remove that from the race to be quite honest.

I'm pretty sure these profiles are (mostly) Devil's Elbow's own creations.

This TV-production map of the closing stages of the 1970 Paris-Roubaix makes it look like the route zig-zags from one town to the next. In reality, all the towns are approximately on a straight line between Nomain and Roubaix.

The 8km between Nomain and Bachy also appears deceptively short compared to the total 6km distance from Bachy to Gruson.

That final elevation is impressive—if you go to 10,000 feet here you’d need crampons since you’ll be on a glacier!

Classic Tour of Iran-Azerbaijan one from 2014 here. This amazing MTF, even despite the gradients listed there, averages 2,6% when they've done better more recent profiles. Amazing use of 3D here.
