I suspect that Pinot will be back at the Giro if 2018 if he finishes top 4. Though guess he'll be back to the TDF as his main goal in 2019.
Another year aiming for the giro and riding the tour for stage wins would be best for him I suspect, however I doubt the sponsors being French would allow it unfortunately. What's more with bardet aiming for the giro next year, all the pressure would be on pinot and that's definitely not a great thing for him.

My guess is the sponsors will be happy enough to continue this in 2018 if Pinot podiums this Giro - Can you imagine the publicity for French sponsors if Bardet and Pinot go head to head at the 2018 Giro - Come 2019, Pinot will need to change teams to continue riding the Giro - Anyway he'll get a WT contract.

The solution for TiboPino has a name : David Gaudu

I think Pinot will go back to the Tour in 2018. But in 2019, Gaudu will certainly do his first Tour, and maybe Pinot will be allowed to do the Giro. And if the young David fall in love with the french race, maybe FDJ will let Tibo do the Giro each year until the end of his career :D

I hope Gaudu can find his legs first in a Giro or Vuelta - I worry about young French GC prospects riding for French teams.

L'Equipe TV published today that last week was their best ever rating-wise. I'm not saying that Tibopino deserves all the credit of course, but I'd be curious to know if FDJ is getting the king of return on investment that makes it worth doing again.

I hope that Gaudu does (at least) several Vueltas or one Giro one Vuelta before facing the monster and the pressure that comes with it. He has a great future I believe. But Le Tour is a meat grinder for a French rider. And the longer the wait, the more desperate the public is. The bigger the hype: media creating (sometimes unreasonable) expectations. And when the rider doesn't deliver, he gets thrown to the wolves.

Tomorrow is a big day.

Not sure about it, I think Tonton dropped some stats that proved the opposite. But after the ITT day, I hope he will be fine. The profile should suite him tbf!

Usually, he does well after rest days. Last week on rest day, FWIW, Thibaut was lamenting that he had a long transfer on Sunday, and had to skip the massage. I bet that he didn't skip it this time.

And it's not an ITT tomorrow: you got the first 80-85 km to get the juices flowing...

I don't want to jinx Il Grandissimo Tibopino, so I'll refrain: no prediction  .

Pinot either finishes second as one of Quintana and Dumoulin cracks in their mortal combat or he leaves the top 5 because of his own meltdown ...

I will be in meetings, boardroom setting, all morning long (Eastern US Time) and will pull a Gigs on this one. No way to get/sneak the live updates. It sucks. By the time I get out, the truth shall be revealed.

Thibaut Pinot is a heck of a rider. My homie. Tibopino, Kick some...

It always stinks when you can not watch the race or see updates. I had that happen last year when Cav won the 1st stage of the Tour and I had to check 5 news articles till I believed it.

So frustrating that the Blockhaus ride starts to seem like a fluke, and that he hasn't come closer to the big 4 in terms of level...
You don't do such a ride on the blockhaus by chance. He is clearly not at his best level. He said in interview he doesn't feel very good since the end of the last week. Why ? I think nobody knows...

Just back from meetings. Not a good day for Tibopino. You were right Netserk :) . Now I have to watch how it unfolded.

It's not over for my chouchou. Only beginning. Tomorrow, he pulls a Vino.

Tonton, you better get used to the idea of a podium without Pinot. Right now he looks good for 5th, but Pozzo could also overtake him ;)
