Actually generally speaking so far there has been no real pattern to the use of email providers in that type of case. Multiple email types, multiple countries, multiple locations within countries.

Is there a way to identify uses who are accessing by using proxy servers? Those who have been banned (and are being paid to post) will just use proxy servers.

I am not sure we ever established that anyone was being paid to post? I know that there have been groups that do this around the web but really no substantial evidence of that here on CN. But I may be missing something.

And I am not sure it's appropriate to comment on what we can and can't see in terms of how folk access the site. There is a fine line here between being transparent or folk and making it easier for people to circumnavigate the small amount of security we do have around forum membership.

Any half-good article critical of Pharmstrong will bring out the cult members vainly struggling to hold onto their cult leader's image. It's going to suck for a while.

If FDA charges go public, the circus of half-baked apologists trolling through The Clinic will be even larger than the SI article.

I don't believe in deleting posts-not even my own. Maybe just this once, pretty please with sugar on top, you can get off your high horse and let this thread be free. It will come back on topic, it really will! Trust me.

You see you have to visualize the place like a pub. Once in while there will be discussions will people across the room and other times discussions with only the people seated next to you... Just let it sink in for a while...

And when the people behind the bar say enough is enough, you do as they say, or you will be facing the consequences.

I am sorry of that is something you disagree with, or find annoying, and you are certainly not the reason why we are suddenly a lot less relaxed about what happens in the various threads.

But we will not be making excuses for some, and expect those under scrutiny to do as we say. When we give a clear instruction, you are gonna have to comply. How you personally feel about it is not the issue here, I even get why you feel that way.

What you can do, as you have one, is raise the issue here, if you are not happy about it.

But ignoring a clear instruction will have the same consequences that others have faced, and will face again if they don't comply either. Ignoring a mod's instruction is unacceptable, even if you disagree.

Sorry.

I agree, people are let off with enough off topic posts before things start getting deleted, it's not like we just come in and delete anything off topic without warning but there are other members who probably want to post on the topic and not be distracted by everything else.

also there is a whole section to talk about whatever you want.

ACF boy, I always respected you. But it is obvious that your signature is totally overdone. There are better ways of "shining in the internet" or make some "friends".
That's too much. I knew and expected that this would end in competition about:
- who hates most
- I told you so
- I told you earlier
- I knew it earlier than you
- who is able to bring in most hate
- who is able to post most disgusting things and thoughts about Lance, Johan and familiy
- freaks out best without getting banned

I know its "celebration" time (for whatever :D ) for most of the mods and admins now, too, but people please keep it human.
Lance didn't kill anyone, didn't slap kids or woman...or whatever......so please keep it real and still healthy.
There is still a long way to go to wish someone "Rest in ****". Can't believe this....

Anyway, I have seen this all in the great ullrich-wars, so no surprise and no differences in whats happening now. Always nice to see how people loose control and the level of obsession and freakness is really impressive.
Those are the real sad storys.

Thank you

The signal to noise ratio has fallen through the floor. It's 90% baiting and people responding to baiting posts. The response posts are as bad as the trolling posts.

It seems the more things change...well, actually they don't.

Add to that the idiotic moderation, and this place doesn't blow, it blows hard.

...in every thread, in every sub-forum. It gets old.

Can people please get strikes for mentioning "The Event"? :p

I have to say, in my opinion it was much worse this time last year. And we all know why that was. Chaingate was a mere sideshow at the time. Funny how its significance has ballooned to ridiculous proportions since then. ;)

Imo the law of diminishing marginal utility does not apply vis-a-vis CNnews forum.

I would in general agree. The way of moderating and the type of posters it fosters has made the forum incredibly bland and boring, and borderline useless.

We used to have excellent quality threads in the clinic. Now, with the current policies in place I hardly even bother to check them out.

I'm shopping for a different forum. Where's BroDeal nowadays anyway?

Can you elaborate on the highlighted?

I don't think the 'quality' is much different from before - some subjects are very well presented and lead to good debate.

The only area where I think there is a decline is where a lot of posters who used to champion certain athletes have disappeared - which is more to do with the unraveling of their positions than the content of the forum (or the moderating).

No problem, mon. Polish has become twice as annoying to make up for it.

I think we need a "where are they now" thread of past forum members now banned, heck we do it for the ex-doper riders, why not our banned ex-members?

Shop no further - Brodeal is still here lol.
Just using a sockpuppet.
He should probably deactivate Brodeal though.

If the Mods allow flicker back, I promise to be half as annoying.
