Didnt he get "leadership" at PR because of Flecha poor show at RvV? I cant remember now  It will be interesting what happens with him.

No, he got co-leadership because of his own strong showing at RvV. Flecha did Ok at RvV - he came 11th (one place behind Thomas)

Hey Dim, maybe you'll know slightly more about this than others here, during the British RR were there team orders or was it a case we don't care who wins as long as we win?

The official line on the day was that they worked as a team to get out front and then it was each man for himself. Certainly from all the conversations I heard it was a free for all.

Brad was certainly in much better form that day than the other two.

Oh TSF you make me chuckle. Team Sky need to start winning things before they can be even thought of in that sort of anology ;) Unless, you are implying Team Sky are Wigan of course and just got confused ;)

back to the OP. I really like Thomas as a rider and think he could make a great classics rider and would like to see him stay at Sky.

It was a play on the Wiggins swapping Wigan, for Man Utd, so in theory Geraint going the other way, in at least brads eyes would be man utd to wigan.

They (Flecha and Geraint) were joint leaders at Paris Roubaix. Boasson Hagen missed it through injury. Think Rogers also was scheduled to do roubaix but missed it too.

Will the recent legal problems / drop in stock price have any affect on the team Sky budget over the next couple of years (and thus their ability to offer lots of big contracts?) I honestly am not very familiar with the sponsorship setup and Newscorps overall investment, or whether there is any connection to this might be a total non-issue. Just asking...

they have a four year sponsorship agreement in place, with the funding set over their four years. Just over two years to go on the deal. (with BskyB)

shouldnt effect anything, the news of the world are small fry in the murdoch empire and newscorp are only a part sponsor of the team. No idea how long Newscorps sponsorship agreement is for though. They sponsor the team seperately from Sky, Sky Italia etc.

Its a bit complicated because multiple murdoch companies sponsor the team. The only one i know for sure is four years is BskyB.

What a minute, you mean to tell me he isn't being linked to BMC?

But seriously, with all the work that he has done this year in leading riders out, plus he has ridden well this year, he is certainly deserving of more money.

After stage two's team time-trial, David Millar told Thomas he should join Garmin-Cervelo, whose team boss Jonathan Vaughters even last year expressed his admiration for the Welshman.

Sounds like Barcelona and Fabregas :p

Haha, kinda missed those ads this year.

I think its becoming very obvious he's going to BMC. I mean think of it they have already signed Gilbert to work for him in the hilly classics.;)

he'd be mad to leave and they'd be mad to let him go

I agree with the other posters who said this is just about getting paid what he's worth.

I would have thought he would do best financially at Sky.

He should win one of RVV or PR at some point in his career - if he cant see that happening with Sky after a few years then he should go ride for Riis.

But if Sky do turn into the Mark Cavendish Road Show? If that's the case, I'd be thinking very careful about my future if I were Thomas. Not at all sure I'd want to stay in that case.

I don't see it as an issue. Whether they sign Cav or not, Thomas will be doing leadouts in the Tour.

Cav won't affect Thomas' position in the classics.

Exactly. I said it previously on this thread, but being Team Leader for the Spring and then getting to celebrate multiple Tour stage wins with your team sounds great to me.

Cancellara doesn't seem too bothered by being a domestique at the Tour.

I definitely see him as more of a PR, RVV type guy and he is a serious 1 man engine and I feel would fit any team.

I hope he got a big pay rise. ;)
Glad about that because joining Garmin would be dumb, They have Haussler, Tyler, Thor and some others but have a negative approach in the Spring Classics where Thomas can do very well - particularly Paris-Roubaix.
