Who do you guys think will win the Tirreno race this year, especially after Froome and Nibali aren't attending I think the race is pretty open!

I think Nairito will win but I'm hoping for Contador of course, this is the best chance he'll ever get to add Tirreno to his palmares.

Ritchie will come with his '13 PN form and grab the win by a small margin.

Also I think Kwia will demand a step on the podium.

Quintana and Contador to fight for one of the places.

Looking forward to it.

Does Porte have an edge over Quintana and Contador for the ITT and also the TTT?

It's really hard to tell, Porte is a very good TT'er, maybe a more natural one than Contador, but Contador has done many great TT's during his career, but mostly before his ban and when there were many hills and corners. I think Porte has a small edge given that the ITT in TA is flat and with very few corners. Porte have an edge over Quintana in flat TT's.

As for the TTT we'll have to wait for the complete startlist, but i'd say they're about even.

In these early races it's always difficult to tell, because the riders still are improving their form towards bigger races.

Aside from the Time trials, is Porte far behind of Quintana and Contador in terms of climbing? Does he have a big chance to go head to head with these two riders?

The TTT should be very close. ProCyclingStats has teams listed for Sky and Movistar, which have some big names and TT ability, as does OPQS's partial lineup.

Sky: Porte, Wiggins, Siutsou, Cataldo
Movistar: Dowsett, Intxausti, Castroviejo, Malori, Quintana
OPQS: Martin, Kwiatkowski, Uran

Who knows what Tinkoff will produce in the TTT...

The muro won't.

Agree, a little too steep at business end. Of course his descending from the climb could help setup a lead before hitting the grades. Anyway, this stage is where Quintanan and Contador must take time on Kwia.

Very little will happen on the MTF stage imo.

Also must agree now with Eshnar, this race needs a hard classic stage.

It depends. Last year he wasn't great on the finish in Chieti, but then he got 4th (?) on the Mur de Huy...

He's probably the best TTist of the lot.

Yes, but the muro has Lanciano before it, Huy doesn't. Also judged my the little footage I saw of Algarve and his performances in last year's T-A, he seems to do better on ~7% than the extra steep stuff. I do however think he'll do really well on the MTF.

Porte should beat them in the TT, TTT a little more complicated.

Sky
CATALDO Dario
EISEL Bernhard
KENNAUGH Peter
NIEVE Mikel
PORTE Richie
SIUTSOU Kanstantsin
STANNARD Ian
WIGGINS Bradley

Movistar
AMADOR Andrey
ANTON Igor
CAPECCHI Eros
CASTROVIEJO Jonathan
DOWSETT Alex
INTXAUSTI Beñat
MALORI Adriano
QUINTANA Nairo

Saxo (what's been confirmed for them)
ROCHE Nicolas
BENNATI Daniele
KREUZIGER Roman
CONTADOR Alberto

All 3 can field very strong teams for the TTT, and the teams named are looking like strong teams for it (of the riders named in Saxo's case), fairly equal I'd say. I think they'll all finish close to each other with Sky coming out first.

I wouldn't consider him behind, he can definitely compete for the win along with them. Would probably say it would go something like Quintana>Porte=Contador, but margin is small between them.

I'll be hoping for either a Quitana or Contador victory in this one. Quintana get's my vote to prevail.

I don't know how good Quintana actually is after his rest period. He got dropped by Machado in Murcia.

I'm going for a duel Kwiat - Conta

Normally Quintana should own this, unless Porte increases his Eugeni-Berzin alike joke Perfomances .
