I'm not even surprised at the performance of FDJ. I knew they'd be good. I'm more surprised at the poor performance of Movistar. Wtf were they doing. A team with Oliveira, Dowsett, Valverde, Amador, Sutterlin...should do much better.

Not true. They were third last year in Romandie, just 5 seconds behind Sky and beating teams like EQS, BMC and Astana. From current squad at TA you just replace climbers Purito, Vicioso and Losada with other climbers Zakarin, Spilak and Taaramae and you get a completely different and very competitive TTT team.

BMC still the best at TTT's. Nice work and Etixx just can't seem to beat them anymore. So close though.

Shame about Garmin/Cannondale, this squad actually had decent TTT possibilities and then they fall again.

No. He is not the world champion in TTT. Simple as that.

My annoyance is directed at that. If BMC don't get to wear rainbow as TTT champions, but classification leaders still wear their jersey during a TTT, then national and world champions should be allowed to wear their rightful jersey - as they used to be allowed to.

I am a little confused on this point. But I think it would be ultra cool if the entire BMC team wore Rainbow Jerseys.

Maybe because it was so close but I would have preferred TJ to go over the line first. Guy needs more trigger time as a race leader in a European race. I get it. His teammate is Italian and that builds loyalty but as the team leader you should be first across the line especially if you want to win the whole race.

Why, as the leader of team, do you need the leaders' jersey? The time diffrence doesn't change, and often they are noT even the strongest in the team during the TTT. I have never seen the leader of a team take the stage on a TTT, because they are so selfish that they don't let the people that slave away for them day after day have any larger recognition.

There are numerous examples of teams who let a "nobody" cross the line first. Just in January Etixx gifted leadoutman Richeze the jersey cause it was in his home town.

Today looks like a typical Tirreno stage; a technical uphill finish. A lot of riders can win here: The heavy classics riders like Sagan, Van Avermaet, Cancellara, Stybar and Hagen, the lighter uphill sprinters like Valverde, Ulissi and Kwiatkowski and perhaps even sprinters who can climb like Colbrelli.

On paper, the stage looks tailormade for Sagan but I think that Van Avermaet and Cancellara will give him a run for his money. My personal outsider is Colbrelli, but it will also be interesting to see if Gaviria tries to give it a go as well.

I doubt sprinters can survive this. This is perfect for a finisseur like Cancellara, considering his current shape. I wouldn't rule out some GC riders giving it a go. It's a very hard finish.

Too hard for the pure sprinters, but guys like Sagan and EBH could be able to handle it.

With 60K to go there's a serious climb to Piano di Forno (7,3 km al 5,8%, 9% max) then it's up and down until the last climb which is a long one alternating 10/12% with 2/3% and then we have the final km's as seen in a previous post with that steeper ramp, descent and final at 7.8%. Lots of things can happen, I think some of the GC guys will certainly try something.

Etixx probably don't want to take any risk, that's why he's not in the Tirreno team I guess

Surprised and delighted by FDJ's TTT ....look what you can achieve when you set your mind to it

But SKY and Movistar ??? With top TTers in the squads ? Just goes to show its a true team discipline and not about individuals
And calling someone who is on a winning TT team a non body totally flies in the face of this

I don't know. I mean it's possible, but I think it'll be very hard to drop the likes of Hagen, Cancellara, Stybar, GVA, Kwiatkowski and Sagan. Personally, I think the only GC rider with a chance today is Valverde.
