ASO were reportedly unhappy because T-N was increasingly attracting the stronger field because it's much easier to combine it with Strade, that is less strongly the case now. It's a lose-lose for us as fans as the Strade field is not as good this year as a result and RCS got Milano-Torino the week before Sanremo as compensation, which they've proceeded to mutilate...
Wow, if this is correct that's some braindead decision making.

I mean, I understand that some people dislike the fact that T-N is becoming more popular than PN but surely to fix that you'd have to make PN work with a Strade participation and/or don't have both races "competing" with each other.
This "solution" only makes T-N slightly more popular but still the better race to combine with Strade and creates an even bigger overlap with PN which, if anything, damages PN even more.
And to add the icing on the cake it damages the Strade competition field with more riders skipping it.

Just imagine they are riding uphill, and Remco would drop Pogi… The forum would go crazy.

I think we all like Pogi (because you cannot really dislike him), but from time to time, I would like to see that one of the other strongmen (Primoz, Remco, Vingegaard, Adam Yates, Vlasov) makes him suffer a little bit on the climbs… :)

If Remco has a 20 sec gap after the TT on pog he has a chance to win the GC. Remco still has to prove a lot but generally i think his climbing abilities are underestimated.

I think that he will get that gap in the TT but he will likely be dropped by Pogačar on stage 6 final climb and likely lose more time in the descent and even on stage 5 there is no guarantee that he will be able to hold on.

What is T-N?

Even without Sagan the top 8 GC guys finished in the same time. So also this year we should not expect big time gaps between the favourites on this stage.
Depends on how they ride the whole stage, in 2017 no one tried anything outside some skirmish on the short wall and let Bora set the pace to preserve Sagan until the foot of the wall and not happy with that on the top of the wall they started to watch themselves allowing Sagan to catch back in the following short descent and then they let him go to the front to slow the pace down until the sprint. Just a bit more pace on the climbs before the wall or a bit more action in the final and you'll already see gaps opening up more, and in that type of stages there is always the action from far and carnage possibility even if putting it before the mountain stage reduces a lot that possibility because forces a lot more conservative approach.

I... think we might have just witnessed a miracle! EF is not the last team to post their roster!
