In his first Tour he was still top 10 after 2 weeks without the best preparation. He's still young. Focus on classics the upcoming years and then maybe try GC. Ineos knows his numbers, they now best.

The murito in that stage was 1.5k at 10.1%, this is 3.2k at 6.9% and therefore definitely easier. Only like a quarter more elevation gain in twice the distance.

Castelfidardo 2021, the really long solo while Pogacar destroyed everyone behind. That version of Van der Poel would have gone well today.
