Word on the street is that Simon Yates is putting on Pantani-level mountain demonstrations in training and these lads are in huge trouble.
This prediction didn't turn out too accurate? S.Yates finished today's stage at 50 sec behind Ayuso - with Ganna.

ps - watched the stage highlights, its obviously very cold. What was the temperature when they were racing today?

Well done from THJ to be up to 11th overall given the ITT performance he had. He lost 1:13 down in 64th place in the ITT and is not just shy of the top 10. Had he just been a little bit better in the ITT he could have been securely in the top 10.

He’s sandbagging for the giro, tapering, very shrewd from Simon, like his brother the old experienced head.

I must say I had hoped for slightly more from him today after the strong showing yesterday, but it was much better than what he showed in Ruta del Sol for example so he’s progressing nicely and hopefully he will reach the Ardennes significantly stronger.

With the TT I think that is not something Uno-X have prioritized much this season with new bikes and everything. Not even Wærenskjold have gotten the custom bars yet.

Hope to see q35.5 and Ineos join forces over the climbs to drop milan etc. Long shot but worth the try.

Ganna and Pidcock both need a few seconds to overtake riders and in Pidcock's case also points towards the cyclamen jersey.

I think it's a mission impossible for Pidcock because he needs 4 seconds as he is behind on 100ths to Hindley. Ganna is also behind Tiberi in that, so he needs 2 bonus seconds to overtake him. But that seems more plausible if they go for it. Then again, in the intermediate sprint, it might be hard for one of Ganna's teammates to place himself between Ganna and Tiberi as they're not particularly fast. Maybe Rivera could do it? I don't know his sprint.

Edit: Looking at his results, Rivera should absolutely be fast enough to be useful there.

ah yes i thought that might be an issue. Depends how much Pidcock or the team value a jersey in that case. I suspect the team more so, especially as they need to be constantly pilling on the pressure to RCS for the wildcard.

Lotto won't ride the Giro, so it's gonna be Eolo, Bardiani, Tudor and Q.36, at least according to Italian media.

The GOAT with unparalleled Grinta today, making something out of this terrible stage, I love it. Anyone who says this isn‘t incredible excitement only likes sprints and Roglič!!!
