Okay Pipo. He said he is not as good as last year yet. Had some good slipstream from the rider in front also. Hope he doesn’t try for GC here and be fresher for the next month.

I think it will be hard for him not to go for a GC on this route. He'll stay in the leaders jersey for such a long time that he wants to keep going for it.

Hope he realises that this year's route is much worse for him in regards to GC.

Still a pretty underwhelming showing compared to what he would have done even two years ago, though.
Different race, different conditions, different winter prep (in 2023 he was coming off of shoulder surgery), but he was 12th at :49 off of Ganna, 51.9kmh vs this year he's sitting at 7th at :31 off of Ganna, 53.9kmh.

When Ganna is on form on this course, I don't think anyone outside of Evenepoel is within 20s of him
I don't think that beating Walscheid, Milan and Hatherly is that high a bar to clear, also on this route.

This take also implies that Arensman is a contender for third-best time trialist in the world, which I'm not exactly convinced by.

So the Flat Truck Bully crushes the competition again by a similar margin to last year (but with a time better by 9 seconds), looking good for MSR. Arensman the best from GC guys. Rogla also gained a bit of time over Tiberi and Del Toro. Should be an interesting week.

Final result:
Ganna's pace even better than what I wrote earlier.

Individual pursuit world record holder faster on a 12 minute flat out and back TT than Roglic. Shocker. And Walscheid wasn't far off Pogacar on a similar (but slightly longer) TT last year, on a worse TT bike.

Maybe Tarling, WvA and Pogacar can squeeze in around the 15s mark, but even Ayuso (a gun on short flat TTs) doesn't come inside that. Roglic is maybe like 5s short at most.
