He was worse in this TT in 2023Still a pretty underwhelming showing compared to what he would have done even two years ago, though.
I think it will be hard for him not to go for a GC on this route. He'll stay in the leaders jersey for such a long time that he wants to keep going for it.Okay Pipo. He said he is not as good as last year yet. Had some good slipstream from the rider in front also. Hope he doesn’t try for GC here and be fresher for the next month.

That was his first race day after 5 months recovering from injury, and in a race he wasn't planning to do until pretty late.He was worse in this TT in 2023
Different race, different conditions, different winter prep (in 2023 he was coming off of shoulder surgery), but he was 12th at :49 off of Ganna, 51.9kmh vs this year he's sitting at 7th at :31 off of Ganna, 53.9kmh.Still a pretty underwhelming showing compared to what he would have done even two years ago, though.
He just indicated he will be one minute behind. I think that's just disappointment speaking, though.Hayter a bit disappointing
Roglic actually was never better than 5th in a Tirreno ITT, so I'd say it's okay. The Appeldoorn one was a bit of an outlier when it comes to short, flat courses.Still a pretty underwhelming showing compared to what he would have done even two years ago, though.
When Ganna is on form on this course, I don't think anyone outside of Evenepoel is within 20s of himStill a pretty underwhelming showing compared to what he would have done even two years ago, though.

I don't think that beating Walscheid, Milan and Hatherly is that high a bar to clear, also on this route. When Ganna is on form on this course, I don't think anyone outside of Evenepoel is within 20s of him
Can hindley drop de Toro in this race????
Luckily there are no mountains this year in Tirreno, just steep hillsI think that was normal (& thus pretty good) Rog actually. Maybe on the better side of normal. But the issue last year wasn't the ITT (his Giro ITT's were good, especially the first one). It's the mountains where the question marks are.

Roglic beaten by 'alen hatherly'
Individual pursuit world record holder faster on a 12 minute flat out and back TT than Roglic. Shocker. And Walscheid wasn't far off Pogacar on a similar (but slightly longer) TT last year, on a worse TT bike.I don't think that beating Walscheid, Milan and Hatherly is that high a bar to clear, also on this route.
This take also implies that Arensman is a contender for third-best time trialist in the world, which I'm not exactly convinced by.
