I don't know how anyone could've see Contadors eyes underneath that Alien like Helmet w. visor that he wears when he TTs.

He means the bloodshot eyes after the finish.

Not sure it actually meant anything after riding into a 20kmh headwind for an hour

Not racing for such a long time is not a good thing. He was weaker throughout 2010 than in 2009.

Yeah, he lost Paris-Nice in 2009, but that had little to do with his form and more about making a rookie mistake. But look how he destroyed them all on Montagne de Lure.

Ahhhh... Now I see. Racing a lot makes you fresher. I now see where I have been going wrong my whole life:

-Studying less for exams will yield better grades.
-Abstaining from sex will lead greater sexual prowess.
-Smoking lots of cigarettes will increase my endurance.

Go figure.

BTW, after he won the Tour in 2007, how active was Bertie's schedule then? He still looked pretty fresh for most of 2008 as I recall.

Lost at Murcia that year and struggled at the Giro on all the climbs.

Yes, having no racing days for nearly 230 days makes you worse. In case you didn't know.

Yeah, beating the CERA snorting Ricco by two minutes shows that he really sucked that Giro.

Ricco is another dude that sucks at TT. Like Andy. If you actually watched that Giro than you'll see Ricco pretty much outclimbed Bertie on every climb(sometimes by over a minute).
Losing 42 seconds in a prologue while your the big favorite doesn't show any progression in his TT skills as you suggested. You were simply wrong.

One TT is simply not representative for Alberto's skills. Seeing as he already won a TT again this year. While Andy boy has never done well in a TT... Outside Luxembourg.

Whatever... This conversation has become tiresome; we're not going to see eye-to-eye on this now.

We'll see this July.

No we won't see this in July. Alberto wont start.

While Gesink has really shown progression in the short flat TTs. His prologue at Monaco was really bad as well and now he can do this already :) That's called progression. I just don't know how this result translates to a 40/50km TT, so for that, I'll wait till July.

Well people sure are talking up a storm about the Tirreno Adriati-MASSIVE CONTADERAIL OUT OF NOWHERE OH JEEBUS.

Contador is a great TT rider all year. Schlecklet rides a good TT in July. Shut up already.

No, he sucked.

Anyway this was about Gesink before someone started to whine that Schlecklett is a good TTer. If you look at Gesink's old results in similiar time trials you'll see how much time he lost and now he almost won the T-A in a tt for crying out loud. Beating Cuddles, Basso, Nibali, etc all in the process. All of which whom were motivated to ride a good TT.

SO is Gesink making excuses? I guess he must be the new Cadel!
Please, never compare Gesink to Cadel. Especially not as far as excuses go. There's nothing wrong with giving a reasonable explanation for an underwhelming performance. The difference lies in the frequency and reasonability of Cadel's explanations also known as excuses. ;)

not real great job by Cadel on the ITT, but good job on the overall GC win.

And a potential precursor to a GT performance. For those pimping Gesink as the next big thing some of the Old big things are still a factor. It's way early.

“When you can win, it's always great,” he told the post-race press conference. “It's great to have a result before the Tour also. I am a fan of the older cycling, where the riders raced from the beginning to the end of the year. I don't like how cycling has gone lately where cyclists only show up to race the tour and that's it.”

Now who would he be referring to? Could it be... no, that can't be it. Andy Schleck also races for one week in April ;)

2e in de Tirreno na een hele goede tijdrit voelt bijna als een overwinning. Nu de beloning: MC Donalds!

Lol, Gesink buying himself McDonalds as a reward for the good time trial and 2nd place. Wonder how Cuddles will celebrate his big win :D.

I don't know which is more surprising... The fact that Evans' wife has a Twitter account, or the fact that you follow it.

Celebrating by going to McDonalds. I would rather eat my own shoes.

Pizza is much better.

One it was a joke and secondly what you 'experts' call excuses are definetly not excuses. It is because you like to knit pick or hold grudges against people. I like you to actually provide some evidence of these so called unreasonable excuses.

Cadel Evans TT position is one of the worst I've seen on such a high-quality rider. He probably had to push the same watts as Cancellara in order to finish 30 seconds behind with that non-aero position of his...
Yes it isn't great, but today his position was extra average. He was really rocking and rolling and sitting up way too high.

I do think this ends all discussion about Gesink not being able to TT.

Shuts them up. Where are those people anyway?

No I went to bed and I acknowledged he as improved and is a decent tt'er in february so please don't talk such crap and stop being a victim.

My TT legs eventually got into gear, enough to hold onto my GC position, and happily get one of pitch fork trophies

Riders not mentioned yet who can ride well on this sort of course, if motivated:

-...
-Malori

-EBH

From this group, I'd expect Malori to be the most motivated.

Well, I might not have known who was still in the race, but I did say to keep an eye out for Malori. Call it even?

By the way, that trophy is the coolest reward I've seen for a stage race. Especially because they dive it up :p

1. T-A trophy
2. Giro trophy

One, it didn't come over as a joke so you might want to work on your skills in that department. Two, it's not about nitpicking, as its something done in a frequent manner nitpicking is not required. Third, please, I won't even waste my time cause you'll find some excuse to excuse him. It's always the same with you fanboys. Run along now and enjoy Cadel's victory while you still can.
