Nibali kicked Gesink's *** though on the climbs, something which he hasn't done before.Dekker_Tifosi said:More to my liking Nibali once again lost a TT meeting with Gesink, that makes it 6-2...

Dekker_Tifosi said:As for long mountains and especially high mountains I think Evans doesn't stand a chance in hell against a top Gesink.
But Evans is definately a much better one for short and medium hills. It's also typical for mountainbikers to handle such things far better

bad itt by machado. was expecting better tbh. still his form seems to be building up just fine for the giro.
gesink was a big surprise. cool cus i like him as a rider.
Gesink dropped Evans on every uphill finish in that Vuelta.kurtinsc said:The last time they were really together in a race with some real mountains I guess was the 2009 Vuelta. I don't remember a significant difference in their mountain ability at that point.
You're probably kidding, but you can actually see the scar quite clearly.El Pistolero said:You forget that Gesink has a big hole in his knee from the Vuelta 2009![]()

Meh, only won time once (and in Chieti he was even behind Gesink)theyoungest said:Nibali kicked Gesink's *** though on the climbs, something which he hasn't done before.
Evans got dropped by Gesink numerous times in that Vuelta...kurtinsc said:I'm not 100% sure I agree. Cadel has done pretty well in long mountains when in form. At the Giro toward the beginning he was the next best in the high mountains after Basso, but faded as he lost the form he was trying to hold from the ardennes as the race progressed.
He was injured/fatigued at the Tour.

I'm not saying you're wrong... but I'm not sure the evidence is there yet to say you are definitely right either.
Of course it's significant. Evans needs all the time he can get on the climbs, because Gesink clearly is the superior TT-erkurtinsc said:Other then Sierra Nevada and Evan's wheel change debacle, the largest time gain from dropping him was... 14 seconds?
I guess I don't consider that all that significant. Maybe I should.
auscyclefan94 said:no he didn't.

But then you would have a dead forum
