To be fair, maybe the other seven days will be dead exciting, and we have been spoilt by the Giro the last few days... but this was NOT the way to start the race if you were trying to suck in new fans.

Ya- I certainly wouldnt be too critical of the race. It is hard to make every stage exciting and yet bring it to the masses.

I can promise you, people who don't generally watch cycling are not going to watch monday thru thursday.

Why did they decide to scrap the prologue this year? I quite liked the old one up the hill in San Francisco, that was orders of magnitude more exciting than this.
