Regardless of how much it looks like an individual sport, road racing is after all a team sport so having someone riding it like it's a mountain bike race is perhaps not that appealing to many teams.

Well, he'll probably get to ride the races he wants/won/performed well in so I'm not sure why it would be a mistake.
He probably won't ride GT's, yes, but he probably doesn't want to ride them (otherwise he wouldn't chose Q36.5) and he isn't exactly destroying the competition in them as well.
Not really. He also has his team set a high pace to get rid off all the opposing domestiques so that there is no one left to chase other than the other captains when he goes on his attacks. If he were to attack against 3 teams full of domestiques there would be 5-10 riders there who could sacrifice themselves by setting a high pace to bring him back.
I want to say yeah, but watching him single handedly decimate the Belgium squad in pursuit at worlds was impressive
I need to edumacate myself on 36.5. I looked at their current roster (before 2025 transfers) and honestly I only recognized about 10 names (Nizzolo, Rosskopf, De La Cruz etc) and those I did did not exactly make me feel particularly lit...can he really do well in, say, Strade with that team?
I mean, I get that Pidcock wants to do his own thing, but why choose a non WT team? MvdP is allowed to basically do what he wants at A-F. He had very few road race days, did a meaningful CX season and I'm sure they'd let him race some XC, plus he can basically just soft-pedal around France and do a few leadouts for Jasper every July.
Surely Lidl-Trek (since Trek is a big XC sponsor) could have been an attractive destination, for example...
Trek have Nys, who is an emerging rider with a similar skillset when it comes to one day races + Pedersen and an already full cobbles squad.
Even there he had Tratnik working for him when he caught up to the group in front where Tratnik was.
Most of the money comes from Lidl with none of it going offroad, the mountainbike bike team 'Trek factory racing' are downsizing their racing activities for next year , including only being a bike provider for Baloise Lions cross team.
I'm not sure that Trek have the money; they've just cleared out a load of riders, and disbanded the Enduro team.
According to PCS Lidl Trek are full for the next season. As for the other WT teams, I guess none of them would want to satisfy Pidcock's demands.
We don’t talk about clinic stuff here, it’s more that INEOS has everything better than Q36.5, and can ride the biggest races

Lidl-Trek Future Racing has younger and equally talented riders that could be promoted to the WT next season.

Well, 2025 will be interesting. Who knows if he performs better or worse. He seems to have that vibe of someone who could be difficult as a teammate, unless he is always getting just his way; would be nice if he proves that wrong.
As much as I dislike Brailsford, I think Ineos have totally lost the plot since he left. They just seem headless and lacking a team approach. This said, I am equally if not more convinced that TPiddy is his own worst enemy in that regard and just doesn't do "team" very well (unless of course it is Team Piddy).

Sheffield and Kwiatkowski probably think he’s a decent teammate considering he helped them in the finale to win big one-day races.

Pidcock is a strange little fella.
From the outside it seemed like Pidcocks off road focus was a big issue for the Ineos management, and when Pidcock left for Q36.5 I thought it made sense as he could do all his off road stuff and then ride the "fun" classics with Q36.5, but today he announced that he wont do any cyclocross this season...

He still said his plan is to return to Cyclocross next winter, so it's obviously not a case of him being finished with cyclocross (or MTB) because he's won it all.
Well, this year is strange because he can't race for his new team until 1/1/25 which is a bit late to start a CX season. Also, his new team has to get all the infrastructure and staff in place to support his CX races. I doubt Pidcock shows up to the races with his bikes on the back of his car and puts up his own tent/warmup spot. He's probably used to having a coach, mechanic, a bike washer, and someone to prep his food/nutrition, etc.
