Nice win. But the field wasn't exactly strong. Hopefully he can build on this. But at least it shows he is motivated at his new team and riding road.
What is shows to me is how much mismanagement is going on within INEOS, even in the most simple of things. In four race days Pidders is already halfway of tying his INEOS win tally . They are sending their riders to the wrong races and/or just straight up making a bad programme. They're letting so many easy victories slip, just look at Tarling since he debuted.

What is shows to me is how Dave Brailsford kept Ineos together. Since he stepped down from day to day management they are a shadow of the team which dominated cycling from 2012. I couldn't stand the guy but you can't deny he was successful in that role.

I mean, it’s pretty clear that the whole Ineos set up increasingly did not dovetail with Pidcock’s ambitions, skillset and approach. Moving to a less high profile team where he is the biggest name is a great move for him. Look forward to seeing more of this. As someone said above, if he can get over the Poggio in the first two or three places, maybe he could do a Mohorič on the descent.

Pidders wanted to make a statement to his former team, I think.
This! It's all about motivation. He wanted to prove that Ineos was wrong so he put in the "road" training time in the off-season. Instead spending time on the CX bike doing short intervals he spent more time doing longer intervals on the road bike which pays off in road racing. Probably while doing those 20 minute efforts he was thinking the whole time "I'm going to show Ineos...".

Pidcock looked really lean in the Alula Tour, like he had lost some upper body muscle mass in preparation for some climbing. Will be fun to see how his season unfolds!

I think simply being in a more positive environment has made a difference too. For whatever reason, Ineos had clearly become a toxic environment for Pidcock, and escaping that will feel like a cloud has been lifted.

I suspect he’s also somebody who likes to have some measure of control over how the team operates - at Ineos he didn’t even have control over his own race starts! Whereas at Q36 he already seems to be dictating how things work…I would guess that’s why Trinity worked for him too…

I reckon this will be a big year for Pidcock.

I am not a huge fan, but after the race Tom's comments about it being an emotional moment and he said as if he was unaware how important winning the race was for his team and teammates. Came off as heartfelt and sincere. Just another thing to drive home the point of poor attitude and dysfunction at Ineos. And Pidcock has another interview about not going to TDF, it looks like his team made the absolute most of this early opportunity.
