when the bbc get hold of it - lots of mentions about 'team gb' corporate *** that clearly Pidcock has nothing to do with and the presenter calls it 'mountain climbing'...

Mighty Pidders playing cat and mouse with Flueckiger ( btw, I didn't enjoy the coverage at all + those atrocious O'sullivan + fookin Alonso breaks) . Wished Koretzky made it harder for him.

That was awesome, and I'm also really glad he doesn't have any unfinished business on the MTB now.

Unfortunately I could only watch with some breaks in-between but Tom was very impressive and rode extremely aggressive and put first the group, then Schurter and then Flückiger to the test. A very worthy champ, even though he came late to the sport. I hope he finds a good way to balance all his ambitions but there is lots to come from him.

The races between VDP, WVA & him will be hopefully what drives the fan enthusiasm in this sport whilst the Tour and (GC) stage racing in general may remain rather stale for the foreseeable future.

Have just realised he's followed in the footsteps of 2000 Olympic MTB champion Miguel Martinez; U23 CX World Champion, U23 XCO MTB World Champion.

provisional schedule:

14 Aug-5 Sept: Vuelta a España
26 Sept: Road Worlds
10-17 Oct: CX World Cup in USA - Waterloo, Fayetteville (same course as worlds) and Iowa City.

- CX through to November (probs up to Koksijde on 21 Nov), then a break, before restarting in the build up the big christmas races and CX worlds.

So potentially no roubaix and definitely no nationals (17 oct).

Roubaix on 3rd, so no reason he couldn't do it. At this stage of his development though, he'll probably struggle against the bigger, more powerful guys like WvA, MvdP and Asgreen. Worlds though, dependent on how he comes out of La Vuelta, on that course, he'll be a favourite.
