He's a good kid and i've always seen him as being respectful towards his peers. Some people in his entourage on the other hand irk me.
I mostly never understood the comparison with MVDP/WVA who were clearly still a lot better than him in CX. I also never felt he was as dominant on the road as they could be, while also combining CX with road racing. That's mostly why I thought he was overrated, but good to see him finally making steps forward in his development on the road.
Definitely overrated as a cross rider (i think Nys already had better results than Pidcock at his age last year). But with guys with a similar build like Alaphilippe (at the time) bossing it on the road, him being a force as a classics rider wasn't a bad take. He could dominate MTB if he focussed on that. But it was the talk of him being able to win the TDF without him having ever performed in any GC race by his mentor that put me off.
Considering he wasn‘t even first at the timing at 3k to go somewhat lessens his moral victory.
Not saying piddock isn't unlucky but this is a ridicculos statement. A lot of riders are more unlucky than him

Yeah, both times Almeida beat Vingegaard early in the season he profited from a Vingegaard who just blew himself up by doing too much and not having the legs to finish it. That was not the case yesterday. It's clear Vingegaard isn't in extraterrestrial form, but Pidcock is really surprising me in this race. I wonder how he'll do on Angliru.
Let's hope he doesn't start moonwalking about half-way.
I think 5-7 which is great then could top 7-10 the Tour if he gets a favorable route and luck with other riders not showing up or faltering.
If he wasn't on the limit, wouldn't he have just followed Vingegaard or at least Hindley? I have a sneaking suspicion that everybody was on the limit.
