Nice to see him doing so well. I always found him a bit overrated, but liked his personality. Good to finally see him compete at such a high level in a GT. He already seems ready to finish on the podium, but the biggest test is to see if he's able to sustain such a level for 3 weeks.

Im sure there was one other as well, but this alongside the queen dying just as he was about to win the tour of britain, is contributing to pidcock being the most unlucky rider in the peloton.

I'm very impressed by what Pidcock did yesterday.
It's only the 2nd person this year able to make Vingegaard sit his ass down and immediately look back.
The other one was Pogacar in the Dauphiné and then in the Tour.

Super impressive stuff from Pidcock.

Almeida did this twice early in the season

He's a good kid and i've always seen him as being respectful towards his peers. Some people in his entourage on the other hand irk me.

I mostly never understood the comparison with MVDP/WVA who were clearly still a lot better than him in CX. I also never felt he was as dominant on the road as they could be, while also combining CX with road racing. That's mostly why I thought he was overrated, but good to see him finally making steps forward in his development on the road.

Definitely overrated as a cross rider (i think Nys already had better results than Pidcock at his age last year). But with guys with a similar build like Alaphilippe (at the time) bossing it on the road, him being a force as a classics rider wasn't a bad take. He could dominate MTB if he focussed on that. But it was the talk of him being able to win the TDF without him having ever performed in any GC race by his mentor that put me off.

No.
In the 4th stage of Paris-Nice Vingegaard attacked, went alone for a couple km and cracked (he was undercooked) near the finish line.
Yesterday Vingegaard followed Pidcock's attack and had to sit down, just like he did against Pogacar.

He lost both times, but it's not the same situation.

Yeah, both times Almeida beat Vingegaard early in the season he profited from a Vingegaard who just blew himself up by doing too much and not having the legs to finish it. That was not the case yesterday. It's clear Vingegaard isn't in extraterrestrial form, but Pidcock is really surprising me in this race. I wonder how he'll do on Angliru.

Looks like he was on the limit today, still in third, what next in this Vuelta for our boy ?
I think 5-7 which is great then could top 7-10 the Tour if he gets a favorable route and luck with other riders not showing up or faltering.

Pidders will never get a better opportunity for a top5 or even podium. This route is laughable when we talk about proper mountain stages.
I still think he will not top5 this race but I'm not so sure anymore.

Lost some time today but he's still doing better than I expected, I honestly thought he would lose minutes today. Limited the damage well.
