He gets a lotta love because there are so few riders left who really attack. It's sad to see guys who are really great soloists, like Voigt and Zabriskie, turned into beasts of burden for their teams, but it's at least understandable. What's really troubling is watching all of the teams without a GC contender who just ride along and never even try to animate the race. So yeah-- go Tommy!

I am sur Voigt and Zabriskie would attack if it was up to them...short leashed.

TV saved the stage. ;)

Reminds me of a cross between Bono and a young Jack Lemmon.

Regardless, he is definitely my favorite rider in the peloton, and as others have said he exudes pure class.

Not only is he tremendously aggressive in the flat stages, but you can almost bet on him being there on the big cols as well. Maybe not in the final selection, but definitely top 20 consistently. Pure guts and determination with a nice splash of panache.

He rides a bike like a professional should, and he makes racing fun. He rides a bike in a way that should earn your respect, but in the end you give it to him freely.

Another victory by TV. Building himself a solid season, not to mention having saved Boogie Telecom, now Europcar.

Wonderful attacking style. Great rider to watch. Chapeau, Tommy.

Completely agree. The guy has more heart than many of the favorites. He leaves it all out on the road.

He certainly turned himself inside out yesterday and never gives up until the bunch is right behind him.

reckon if one extra rider went with him and dewalle yesterday they might have made it.
great charge for the line and disappointing that they didn't get there

the way voeckler rode like hell at the end of the 5th stage with the peloton within a stones throw only made my admiration grow more.

for me, at least, i like voeckler as much as (sit down for this one) Jens Voigt.

i know....but it's true.

Tommy's just great! He has been one of the bigger pleasures of watching the Tour during this last decade. I'm sure that everyone except his direct rivals on the road root for him to pull it off when he tries one of his seemingly futile feats of individual magic. When he's as active as he has been this week, you just know that he's going to surprise us somewhere. Certainly my favorite French rider.

Without the talent or ability he tipifies the Cannibal spirit that Merckx had. He wants to win and he wants to attack, doesn't get any better than that!

Voeckler, de Ghendt, and Amets Txurruka to get in a Tour breakaway. Would hate to be the team chasing them down.

I've always liked Amets too actually. Thought I was alone in that one! Nice to know more fans are out there!

/started calling my Honda Fit by the name Amets
//small but more capable than you think :)

He should be able to hold it 'till Bastille day, at which point we hit the Hourquette d'Ancizan, the Tourmalet and Luz Ardiden.

Expect prolonged, open-mouth, televised agony. :)

It's just so much fun to watch though, I'll never forget 04' up to Plateau de Beille! If the French want Voeckler on TV, I'll be more than happy to watch!

Oh, don't get me wrong, great stuff! Just fairly predictable. :)

Yeah. They'll probably show 30 minutes of Voeckler only to cut to Andy or Alberto's victory salute! Then of course back to the main show that is Tommy V.

Taking the Yellow with the incident that happened right in front of him, this should be renamed the coward thread... now I see what Eisel was saying about no respect! I hope they attack the living daylight out of him after the rest day.
