Good ride today, unfortunately he found himself in a break with riders bound to outclimb him any day.

what makes this statement even more funny is thse riders (the ones that did outcclimb him) where Thor Hushovd and EBH! If you had said before the tour that those 2 could outclimb Tony Martin am not sure how many would believe you, but once again, Martin shows how much fail he is going uphill today

Well Tony Martin was dropped by EBH several times in Dauphine too so it is not that surprising. But to be fair Tony Martin is clearly not in top shape at the moment and he has spent too much energy helping Cav. His TT talent is still so great that he might end up second on the TT though :p

I hope you saw the irony in my post? That cat. 2 climb should wake Martin up, he's never going to be a GC contender. He can, however, be the best time trialler in the world - he should focus on that.

Tony isn't in top shape? Well, that's his fault for botching his preparation, because he sure was aiming at peaking for the Tour, and he pretty much sacrificed the whole Dauphiné to that effect.

Strong ride from Panzerwagen, but Cadel made him nervous on his chair and Spartakus had some bad luck with the weather conditions.
Happy man. Smiling all over his face. :)
Ok, regarding GC, lets forget - better try and better luck next time, perhaps in a new team and 100% protected.

A stagewin and winning green jersey as a team is also a great achievement.

I guess we can conclude that Tony Martin is a good time trial specialist who is not good as a climber. Not in the high mountains anyway.

This Tour has truly been a fountain of wisdom.

By the way Tony said he's considering to take a shot at the Vuelta GC
In a fight between Tony Martin and the Angliru I can only see one winner, I'm afraid.

There won't be any fight between Tony and the Angliru. Angliru is the 5th MTF in the race. Tony's hopes will be long gone by that time.

Steeper mountains are better for Tony Martin remember? Because gravity plays no role at all ofcourse

He should take a shot at the cobbled classics instead. He should realize that when his form is good enough to crush the field in the TT, and yet he gets dropped by the likes of EBH and Thor Hushovd on a climb, then he will never win or even top 5 a GT.

Martin simply doesnt have that much power in relation to his weight, he just barely beat a guy who is 8-9kg lighter than him and had to work much harder the previous days. Ullrich or Indurain crushed everyone who was that much lighter in ITTs. I would guess that the Schlecks can produce almost as much Watts as him but lose most of the time in an ITT due to inferior aerodynamics and mechanical efficency.

To be fair Tony was not in top condition and that was not a flat TT.

But why wasn't he in top condition? He planned to peak here and go for a top 10 in the GC. Are you suggesting his not being in top condition is what kept him from climbing with the best?

At least he could have done a lot better.
