Well, in that case you can be happy, because he gets lots of hype.

To be fair I do appreciate Gesink's talent but you have to be realistic about his chances of success in 2012, whether it's at the Tour or the Vuelta, given what's happened to him. I guess the late season hilly classics might be where we see him really shine, if at all.

Gesink >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Froome

That was the case before the Vuelta.

But since then its Gesink > Froome.

The Vuelta should not be ignored.

Froome has announced himself in a big way.

Why is it Gesink > Froom????

Gesink never came close of becoming second in a GT

I think I might of had Ulissi in a fantasy squad of mine, he's very young though and maybe too early for him..

Froome>>>> Gesink. Not even a contest.

The stage has to be reverse if the leaked route is correct (Pau -> Luchon).

Aubisque (West) and Tourmalet (West) are the "harder" sides, then Aspin or Ancizan followed by Peyresourde or maybe even doing Azet just prior (see Descender's profile).

It's as good as the Giro stage to Cortina, all it's missing is super length. Add another 30kms (by going over Marie Blanque) and you have yourself a classic stage (on paper).

Let's be honest. It's most likely (we'll know in a week for sure) to be Aubisque-Tourmalet-Aspin-Peyresourde. The 2 easiest climbs coming last and the Peyresourde being what 7-8 km long followed by a 15 or so km descent that would favor the group over an attacker.

Duran-Staulanza-Giau blow this turkey right out of the water.

But ok, apparently the new mantra is that the riders make the race. Wonder though if Pescheux is going senile and forgot what decade he is in or he is retiring and doesn't care how big of a turd he leaves.

You know you are wrong here very well. Go troll somewhere else.

I still think it's Gesink > Froome atm since Froome only showed himself in 1 GT so far. Gesink should stop hitting the deck though and the 2012 route certainly looks more suited to Froome.

Apart from being 30 seconds from the lead in a Vuelta with Valverde, Evans, Basso and S. Sanchez with 1 mt stage to go, you mean, Bavarianrider??? (>>>> a vuelta with Cobo, Wiggins and Mollema as main contenders...)

Nibali for Tour & Basso for Giro?

Yep.

Also obviously EE should leave Vuelta to Anton and Tour to Samu like last few years. Maybe Nieve for Giro.

Astana said Brajkovic would do Giro and Kreuziger Tour.

Might want to reverse that one.

Gadret for Giro Peraud for Tour.

Katusha dont have anyone for this race though I dont think. Purito Moreno should go for Giro, or just save for the Vuelta.

But, but, but you're all wrong. They just have to attack early and often, it's not a bad course for climbers apparently....

But nowadays they don't attack until 3km from the top. Unless it's the final 2 mountainstages, then they suddenly attack on the first mountain

There's about 3 mountain stages where it's possible to gain more than a few seconds. And it's impossible to gain 2 minutes every time.

I would laugh my socks off if most of the climbers decide to skip this Tour despite the 'expert' opinion that they can gain 6 minutes or so back on these frankly horrible stages.

I'm sure he can. And he should, as a non-featherweight climber. Froome however has the added quality of staying on his bike, and not having had a broken femur.

you can add Alejandro Valverde as a solid contender for 2012 tour de france.

Hope first TT is hilly,

btw, I can like this tour more that previous years, Pau-Luchon seems to be classic... and "insane"

He's only asking a question not trolling.

No it's him saying Gesink never came near 2nd in a GT, while Gesink was 2nd in a Vuelta with much harder competition where he was challenging Valverde for the win, but due to a crash(a huge hole in his knee) he ended 7th.

Bavarian knows that, but he just likes to be like that :)

Isn't Gesink someone who puts out huge watts numbers? I thought he was actually.
If he only stayed on his bike once though :D

He ended 7th. That's nowhere near second.
Nobody knows if he wouldn't have bonked anyway, with or without that crash.
Froom prooved he can podium, Gesink hasn't.
However, i think Froom will likely pull a Velits at next years' Tour.
Gesink is pretty much irrelevant at this point of time.

Assuming he's allowed to ride, could the (relatively) easier parcours tempt Contador to try the Giro-Tour double again?
