Even Voeckler has said that he is not a contender for gc at the Tour. How he was able to climb the way he did in the latter stages of the Tour is a mystery. It was attributed to his working extensively on his climbing, a loss of weight and maturity. He had shown progress in some of weeklong stage races this year though.
Agree 100%. Plus add wearing the yellow jersey and Rolland to the equation.

Yes everyone knows that Voeckler won't win the Tour but no one can doubt his attitude. Even his TT ride was better than usual. I was hoping he would hang on for third place in Paris but knew it wasn't going to happen.

The trouble is he cannot control himself. His ride on the Alpe Duez stage was ridiculous. He should have dropped back with Evans on the Galibier and he may not have blown so badly on the final climb but he has always ridden like that so I can't be too surprised. Aggression is fine but he would be even better with a bit more thought and not being so kamikaze with his attacks but I guess that's what makes him so entertaining. Vino was the same. You never know what to expect from Voeckler as this year's TDF showed.
