Don't really care about the stage since I believe Froomey will lose quite a bit to both Rogla and Tom.

But I have a message for the Tour: since the best TTers win the race no matter the sh*t you throw at them can we just go back to having a couple of monster TTs in the route like it used to be? I want to see these guys fight each other on a 50/60 km TT.
That could be great. Maybe the French finally will see Bardet aint winning the Tour so we can get back to at least a respectable amount like 60 km or something.

With that much TT Bardet wouldn't even start the Tour. That would be his Giro year for sure.

Will one of the non GC riders be able to beat the Top 4? Some TT specialists surely took it easier during the last days, as much as that is possible on such terrain.
Second rank riders I expect to do well would be Latour, Arndt, Andersen, Amador, Alaphilippe
Most likely to split the Top 4 are imo Castroviejo, Kwiatkowski, the Izagirres, Jungels and Küng.

The real question today is if Dan Martin can make up the 1 minute 30 on Bardet.

Zakarin will probably pass Quintana for 9th.

Guess Kruijswijk will hang on for 5th

I just wonder how much Roglic is suited to super technical hilly TTs.

And Bodnar

I agree with these names. I'd add Zakarin, Poels and Bernal to the first list. Kangert is a bit of an enigma. He could also do well, but he could also be nowhere to be seen.

I think Roglic, Thomas and Dumoulin will take the first three places, but I don't think Froome will top 5.

Watching this stage, I came to think of whether Sagan has ever ridden a Tour stage in his standard team jersey? I actually don't think he has.

2012: Slovakian champion and green jersey in the time trial
2013: Slovakian champion and green jersey in the time trial
2014: Slovakian champion and green jersey in the time trial
2015: Slovakian champion and Slovakian champion in time trialing
2016: World champion and green jersey in the time trial
2017: World champion
2018: World champion and green jersey in the time trial

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Edit: Yeah, he must have ridden stage 1, the ITT, of the 2017 Tour in his team jersey. Is that the only stage?

You would have Quintana and Landa joining him too.

He hasn't, as this was his last race in a normal team jersey:

Are you sure? What jersey did he wear on stage 1 of the 2017 Tour then?

This parcours doesn't seem to favour the heavier TTers - so I expect most of the top-10 to be filled with the GC guys.
The heavy TTers are the GC guys these days aren't they?

Heavy TTer is around 80kg, not 68-70.

Medium weight TTers were always GC guys by the way. Not only these days...

He did wear a regular team jersey. Other than that he also wore a regular jersey in the prologue in 2012.

The battle for 5/6 will be interesting as I have no idea how good Steven K is at TT's and Landa can do both good and really bad TTs. So who knows what happens there.
There should be no contest there, Steven Kruijswijk is a better time triallist.

I'll keep an eye on Latour's performance, a top-5 would be huge, a top-10 ok-ish.

I know I'm old, but for the life of me I can't recall Landa ever doing a 'good' time trial. What am I missing?
