What does that have to do with anything? I'm not saying De Gendt should have saved his energy for today. I'm not even sure you're referring to the same issue/non-issue as me.

I just find the rules stupid. He missed the time cut twice and could save energy for the time trial. Solution? Add 40 seconds to his time trial time and problem solved. He'd still have won, but at least he'd get punished for it.

De Gendt didn't even recon the time trial. Up until yesterday he wasn't feeling so great. You're not going to sit in the gruppeto when you have great legs for the first time so late in the Tour.

It's an issue because it happened not once, but twice. And only Cav got punished for it.

Well all got punished with -20 points for the sprint.
You can't blame Martin for the rules that make it intellegent to build gigantic grupettos. Sure half of the field is going to use this.

Btw: Martin today was only 5 seconds slower than at the Dauphine and he was 1:29 faster than de Gent. Do you seriously believe that the diffrence in work makes up for such a great margin? It's not that de Gendt lost by some seconds.

Beide Schlecks wel parcours op fiets verkend. Luxemburgse journalisten verkeerde info verspreid

This is a well known Dutch cycling journalist. He says that the Schlecks did recon the TT on bike. They got wrong info from the Luxembourgian journalists earlier, and that info was spread.

Sporza guys already said that some time ago.

I don't know if the Tour could've gone any worse for Radioshack

It was a terrible showing for them. RS needs a new team. Where are the young American cyclists?

He couldn't do any better though. I highly doubt Martin isn't good enough to make it before the time cut.

Obviously Martin is better, but he didn't get punished for missing the time cut twice.

Fair enough regarding the time cut bit, however, you cannot tell me with a straight face that De Gendt would have beaten Martin in any circumstance in a one on one. That would be fanboyism of the highest order. Martin deserves more respect than that surely.

No, but it's the principle. I'd add 20 seconds extra time for every day they miss the time cut. Seems only fair to me.

i hope this is true because i have been beyond baffled how if your entire season is based on winning one tour and you lost the tour last year in your time trial how you could possibly not have reconned the tt.

They must have done that between the end of yesterday's stage and the start of this one. Obviously reading this forum and taking our advice. Lol. :D
