I think most people dreaded the idea because they expected it would be a dull affair.

Of course it's not all down to Evans, but he played a key role.

I mainly disliked evans as a GT rider because of how he rode them.

He is a champ. Great ride this tour all things considered.
He has 2 giros, so I am content there.

Yeah he just rode his *** of and in the end he can at least say he gave everything but then really everything. Respect for him!

Agreed. He rode with panache and brains. I really enjoy the post-World Champ Cadel. It has done wonders for his psyche I think.

Andy will never win the Tour if he can't beat Evans.

No, he will never win unless he improves his TT skills. I guess last year was an anomaly. He really wasn't gaining ground in his TT skills as it appears that last year AC was off form. AC dusted him in this TT and if he didn't have the crashes, although I still don't think he would have beat Evans this year, he definitely would have been 2nd on the podium.

It's still forgotten here that the Schlecks can only podium in a Tour weak in the TTT, ITT or both. They've really been given a gift in the past two years. I hope this is not the trend in the Tours to come.

Cadel rode a brilliant tour. Covered all the attacks, rode at his own pace, knew when to force it, made attacks, won a stage. Total champion. Great win--and funny how every day the posters here said he was going to crack.

WOW. I just want to say to all the Aussies and Cadel fans: CONGRATZ! Epic win, well deserved. Its not something I say lightly, but as a fan of Conti, I must say that in my mind Evans is a Great Champion (not only World's )
Great performace today, he also seems to be a really, reallllyyy nice, humble guy, much like AC.

Also a good performace for Alberto, pity he didnt make the podium in GC, along with Cadel, would be nice to see.

Under the department of most useless rides, file Leipheimer's ride to Alpe d'Huez. Who the heck cares if you finish 2:something back or 10: back when you've lost tens of minutes? He didn't seriously think he could win that stage, right? Then he goes out today and rides a horrible TT. Useless.
