Don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but one advantage Evans may have is that he goes right after Voeckler. Depending on how the latter rides, Evans may be able to catch him. If he gets him in his sights, he will have the motivation of trying to catch him. i don't believe anyone else in the top group has a chance to catch the man in front of him.

Is Gesink the new A. Schleck? He'll do nothing but TdF? I hope not, because I really like this rider.

I'm not sure where you base this on. He won the Tour of Oman, 2nd in Tirreno-Adriatico and 3rd in Pais Vasco. His Ardennes Classic season failed besides a top10 in AGR.
I think that he wanted to do the Vuelta as well, but that was before this Tour de France.

Shaking my head at Phil suggesting that Contador is going to ride this stage like he's on holiday. What more does he need to see before he accepts that Contador is about the most competitive guy in the race?

At least Paul brought him up short on that.

Rolland looks like he's dying already.
I don't have a lot hope for him to get either the white yersey or a top 10 place.

Edit: Velits 1:30 behind Martin at the second time check. I'm a little disapointed here.

Edit 2: And Taramae is doing really well at the first check. Only 43 seconds behind Martin and in 7th place.

Do you think the guy is holding the riders properly at the start?

Paul seems to think he was holding AC too much. As the countdown came, AC was going to leave before 1 and the guy held his seat...according to Paul.

I thought someone said in the TTT that the time line is actually at the bottom not the top of the ramp, so people leave before the timer says zero
