But Petacchi has been rubbish and Swift has been mostly a leadout man.

Yes Petacchi's been rubbish, which is why I said Denis has been better. Swift was a leadout once, yesterday. He was meant to be last in line on stage 3.

Gal' has 2 top 10 and a top 20 (iirc) - for an upcoming sprinter I don't have high hopes or lofty expectations for him so he's ok imo.

Bit of a snoozefest, I confess. Stages like this would be perfect for some "up close and personal" features about riders and teams, features which are sorely missing in contemporary cycling coverage.

The NBC coverage just jumped back in time about ten minutes. Weird.

EDIT: Now they're back on the right timeline but showing astupid banner ad on the screen.

looks like I tuned in a bit early then. no surprise, HTC on the front...

has there been a consensus as to what will happen with the intermediate sprint yet?

HTC on the prowl, about 20kms to go til the intermediate and the gap's down to about 2 mins. should be bang on swallowing the break just before the first sprint?

Off to work, brilliant, i'll miss the finish after watching this all day. Enjoy! And curses to part time work who can randomly call you in whenever, even during the TdF!

Kloden must be the only Shack guy who hasn't crashed then?

Just about. Unfortunately, I think he's going to insist on working for Horner on Super Besse. Or Leipheimer. He won't take the lead until it's painfully obvious that he's got the best legs.

Kiryienka's missing the cut has probably already been mentioned elsewhere but do you think Movistar were expecting too much from him or did they just have no-one else after the recent tragedies?_?

Looks like the catch won't come until after the intermediate sprint, probably deliberate. I wonder what HTC's strategy will be, I think they might send Goss out on his own to try and take as many points as he can and save Cav for the finale.

Soft pedalling on the front now - htc/garmin don't want to catch the break before the sprint - will others (lotto?) take over?

Kloden is far too boring to do something as interesting as crashing.

I read a telling interview with Kloden a couple of years ago. Enjoys football and camping or something. Doesn't ride his bike for pleasure, and doesn't consider cycling a true sport. It's just, he said, his job, one he is good at.

Honest, but sad.Pretty hard for me to support him after that.
