Gesink, Cavendish, Basso, Schlecks, Conatador, Evans, Sanchez, Thor, VDB all sighted in peloton, which has shrunk heaps. All GC teams now up front (not just LT).

What's with so many crashes involving GC contenders this first week? Now Wiggins is out. Horner apparently got back on his bike but is well behind, so even if he manages to stay in, he'll likely lose significant time. So that's one GC guy out of the TdF completely and another likely to lose so much time that he's effectively out of the running.

Vino and Leipheimer missed the split in the peloton that the crash caused though maybe they'll catch back up.

Terrible. I hate to see the race so immensely impacted by these crashes. At this rate what should be a great TdF is going to be a farce. The winner is the guy who doesn't crash out or lose big time from another @#$#@ crash.

Sad for Wiggins. Perhaps now Sky need to throw their weight behind Uran or anyone who can climb a bit.

There is a long history in the CN forum, not so much on the road.

Pity the Sky mechanic who has to change the yellow mood lights to black and then clean all the bikes.
