Thanks. It does look like he sharply moves towards him, but I guess riders would've stopped if it was deliberate. Sucks for AC though.

Indeed. AC can't catch a break right now.

I think from the testimonies given, then corroborating that with the video, is that the bikes clip and get caught, and either it pulls Karpets into Contador, but the impact allows him to make the save, or it knocks them away slightly and Karpets overcorrects, which would explain why he appears to move quite sharply.

Was that the reason we were not shown the crash site on TV: He had to change his shorts?

He had to, although I don't know if that was the reason. I think the reason simply was that the camera bike was in front of the group and thus just continued the journey together with Voeckler and the others.

Incredible poise and class. I find it hard to imagine I wouldn't have gone looking for the guy straight after the race, with bad intentions.

As for the action:-

- Bertie won't make it out of the Pyrenees.
- Velits is looking really good. He really ought to be considered a favourite.
- Gilbert has green in the bag.

+ 1 on JH - humbled all today.

I consider Velits the dark horse by now, he is getting in the mature age, got good experience on Vuelta last year and even he is riding for Tony Martin, he shall get the chance in higher mountains.
Let´s see :)

Such a ****ty stage. Everything I would express has no doubt already been said, but ****.. This Tour has been terrible.

Nice to see Voeckler in yellow, Hoogie in polka-dots and Gilbert extending his points lead anyway.

Yeah lets hope his mountain form is good.

Couldn't agree with you more.

This Tour is just terrible. Borring. The courses so far suck. Couldn't they have finished on one of the Cat 2 climbs today, or at least put one near the finish? And the riders are making it even worse!

This is what Boll Roll said (summarized) when asked why this year's Tour has become known as the Tour de Crash:

I think it is because Alberto Contador looks so vulnerable... There is a level of urgency that has gripped the entire peleton....The peleton wants to avoid the pitfalls that have befallen AC.

Sure. Whatever. Idiot.

I don't see how people are saying this. I already think this Tour has been light years better than the Giro. Accidents are part of the sport, the only difference is this year it is happening to GC riders instead of the normal group of rag tags.

How the hell would it be light years ahead of the Giro? Nobody would say even one positive word about this week if not for the zillion crashes. What else was so really damn great? Gilbert winning on short uphill finish? Cav schooling the field in 2 sprints, Farrar getting one? EBH winning an uphill sprint?

WTF was he doing? (I mean Karpets of course.)

They may describe it as an "accident", but it certainly looks like AC went to the left because of a lot of force from Karpets.

that

this brings me back to when people were criticising the giro route and saying that the ASO was a much better and more responsible organization that the RCS

I think it's been some damn fine racing. The accidents have been disappointing, but I think we're going to see some real attacking happening this week. I loved how the Tour made the first week really exciting instead of just being several cake walks for Cavendish. The problem for the Giro is that the Tour has a significantly stronger field. It's a shame so many have crashed out, but I have no doubt the Tour will continue to be exciting.

+1

I couldn't believe they were blaming Contador for ALL the crashes!

I agree with that. I disagree with the first week being exciting and i stand my ground: without the crashes everybody would say it's boring as hell. (as it would have been)

What was refreshing to me is that it wasn't just a HTC train every day.
