Gesink hasnt left the Tour yet, JVDB - who knows if hell recover, Frank didnt, and Horner Wiggins and Braj are great but havent proven themselves quite on the level of Anton Scarponi Menchov Nibali and are also coming back from injuries.

So not neccesarily.

Joaquim Rodriguez is a rider i forgot about though, so make it 5 way, and add maybe Di luca, Daniel Martin to the list.

don't forget duarte and machado

Vino will be abck next year. No doubt in my mind!

I really hope so. This would be a terrible way to end his final Tour :( One must really feel bad for Vino - even with his doping history.

What do you guys think about Cunego's chances now with all these Top 10 candidates fading/abandoning? He's only 1.12 behind and could be going for a solid top 10.

i would say that with the current race conditions being out of the top 10 would be a failure

More just kidding about the fact that he quit at some point in evey TDF he rode in. Quite a list though.

Haha yeah well there is that, but this time really was because of a crash - at least not as bad as his crash in the 1994 Vuelta.

The truly amazing statistic amongst all this daily carnage, is that Frank Schleck is yet to fall off.

I hope the Italian lads, (Basso and Cunego) who have so far managed to stay safe, can find their old GT form, as the GC competition is now looking a bit thin.
(well, a man can dream)

I dont see him returning with a broken pelvis, that is the same injury Beloki had in 03 and he didn't even look a fraction of what he was before and at the time he was only 30, not 37. Sad as it is, we have seen the last of vino.

Like a warrior though he was carried off the field of battle by his comrades, fitting for a guy who made his career out of never giving up attacks and aggression.

Let me show you 1997 (race favourites abandoned by stage 8 due to crashes):

Alex Zulle
Fabiano Fontanelli
Tony Rominger
Gilles Talmant
Arsenio Gonzalez
Vicente Garcia
Evgeni Berzin
Ivan Gotti
Mario Cipollini
Leon Van Bon

Now that is a comparable list:

It has three favorites and one top ten candidate.

However, the point stand that this is not "normal". You had to go back 14 years for a comparable slaughter.

Parrulo would have said he didn't man up

let me explain this to you like if you were mentally challenged which you prolly are because you were the only one not understanding my post.

at that point what was being discussed on the thread was gesink's mental strength or the lack of it and how he was just giving up. thats why i said he should man up not because of his injuries. every1 got you didn't sucks to be you
