At the intersection with Aspin the descent is basically finished. There are a couple of steep stretches but overall it's a false flat already.
i am not sure the Road intersect with Aspin which is on the other side of the mountain. But from Payolle which is at about 1000 meters to Bagneres which is 550 meters, I may not call it a descent finish but it is hardly a false flat.

Yeah I meant at Payolle, Which is the point where the road splits, one to Aspin and the other to Horquette.
450 m over 20 kms means less than 2.5% of average gradient...

The math is right. Not a real downhill finish but an interesting one for somebody who want to keep the chasers from catching him. Provide, of course the lead group at the top of La Hourquette is relatively small. Since the stage is early on in the Tour, it could be an ideal spot for any of the pretendors to make a statement and gain some time

ofc it is an interesting stage, even though imho it's going for a breakaway. There is a chance to stay away but I don't think it's high enough for a gc-guy to exploit it. Maybe a second tier (one or more) could give it a try.

if tiny ricky ricco could hold the peloton keeping a 1 minute gap steady from the finish of the descent to the finish then damn right the attackers of 2013 can do it too

if only the guys will have the spirit of attack :(
but i agree, the stage looks very good.

He was a second tier though ;)
And no one bothered chasing hard.

That's what they thought anyway. He was top-5 material for sure, though. :p

You're right that no one bothered chasing, really. A one minute gap on Ancizan can easily be controlled by Sky or whoever else.

I was actually thinking of a Monte Grappa 2010 like stage. With Tourmalet alone.

Well, Grappa is steep so it wouldn't be all that similar. To me, the west side of Tourmalet is the easy side. It's a bit longer, but the gradients are more consistent. That doesn't always show up in the profiles. I have to side with ASO this time. :p

MTF on Mont Semnoz, apparently.

This? Not a bad climb by tour standarts

If Semnoz is confirmed then it means the day before should (will) be weak like 2004.

Still don't know how they will get the Annecy loop to work. Forclaz before hand would be great, only 10km flat to Semnoz. Beforehand I don't know, I can't get my head around the concept of an out and back road stage. Plus as the final day it will probably be <150km.

Beforehand, I'd be really grateful if you guys inform what's going on at the presentation in this thread, 'cos technology of live streaming internet hasn't come to my country so far. :)

If the squiggles on the map are anything to go by it looks like Ventoux from Bedoin (again), so around 230km!

Grand Bornand looks like 2004 repeat.

Annecy loop clockwise to the south... hmm. Maybe Tamie and dunno.
