do you even understand cycling? with 220 km in the legs the climb will feel alot different than with 150 km. the famous 200 km border. this will be an epic ventoux ride

And:

Chris Froome ‏@chrisfroome
I've never ridden Ventoux but at the end of a 240km stage after 2 weeks of racing, that is going to be tough

And from what i see, its a grand 1m above 2000 the peloton will spend in the whole race.

Paihares is 2001m above sea level, and Madelin is bang on 2000m

In reality Madeleine is 1993 m I think (at least it's often quoted to be 1993 m).

Edit: Google maps seems to confirm that it's below the 2000 m limit.

I do not see the criticism of the Ventoux stage. 240km give or take is simply how long the start and finish are apart. Whether they start from Carpentras or Lyon you're always going to get the same result in terms of not needing to watch until Bedoin. 50km or 250km I don't really care. It's more or less impossible to have a meaningful mountain chain, a couple of random borderline Cat IIs isn't going to change anything. The only way you can do it is Ventoux twice (lol) which I completely expect to happen in a few years time when they take it next.

I agree with you, although sometimes a Cat II climb can do a lot for a race. :D:D:D

Serious or just joking?
There you go, in French. :)

"Le Tour favorable a huit coureurs par equipe"

Prudhomme: "un coureur de moins dans chaque équipe, pour une question de sécurité, ensuite pour que la course soit un peu moins cadenassée"

This is great news!!!!

Yeah it's great, there will probably still be crashes in the first week but hopefully less with teams of 8.

This just in. Unofficial:

Prudhomme says Tour 2013 will take place with 8-rider teams, and not 9 riders for security reasons. However there will be 22 teams.

FANBTASTIC NEWS!! still wish they'd start with 25 teams then

Can you not read?
I said I had reservations about the route. (OK, nothing to do with not having 7-50km ITTs, though.)

Try 1912 metres.

8 man teams and the TTT on stage 4, after "technical" Corsica?
Conceivable that odd teams might have to take the Nice start with 6 riders, worst case, even less.
