I just realized that the Mont Venteux stage is on July 14. That's a big mistake I think. It should be a day with a lot more opportunities to attack.

Who cares on which day? Would you prefer 5th flat stage in 6 days? I think Mt.Ventoux saves 2nd week. It is common for TDF to have 200km+ stage with Ventoux.

242km to Ventoux should hurt still... shame there aren't any proper climbs around it. Maybe they should try and make a descent so they can do a loop of Ventoux

Yes that's going to be a long day, remember Hautacam 1996, completely flat then they hit the climb running and there is big damage.

Maybe that's why they did it. Those Frenchies seem to always want to win on Bastille Day. I'd imagine winning on Mount Ventoux on Bastille sorta... is even better for some guys!
So they'll all be "**** you, stupid GC guys! This is our day! We ADDAAAAAAAAAAAAAK!"
