I think he is not doing any GTs this year. The plan for him is to score points in 1-day races later in the year

I heard that Vanendert was going to the Vuelta as a preparations for the worlds, also because he was a bit struggling with his shape (during live coverage on Belgium tv, can't remember who and when).
Thus it was a conscious choice to let the tour down this year, and give it a go for the worlds.

Apparently Bakelants is gonna be the man who has to ride at the front from km 0 (together with Golas). They didn't think Terpstra or Steegmans would be willing to do that considering their past wins. I think it's a waste of Jan's talent nonetheless and I can't see why they need 8 helpers for the sprints (considering Kwiatkowski has to work in the sprint like in past races). I think 5-6 could be sufficient.

Agreed. Wasn't the big selling point of Cavendish that he could guarantee multiple stage wins without a whole team supporting him ? In any other team you could have so much fun stage hunting with Martin, Bakelandts and Kwiatkowski :(

Marcel Wyss, not Danilo.

Surely that's what they're doing, all for the few sprints and everybody allowed to stage hunt just like last year, Kwiatkowski has said that he's happy riding for Cav as it takes all pressure off him and depending on how he's feeling will decide on going for white jersey

Sky tour team confirmed:

Froome Porte Nieve Lopez Thomas Kiryienka Siutsou Pate Zandio

Seems weird to not take Eisel or Wiggo.. Strong team of course but unless Porte is alien I think saxo will have a better team.

I find it interesting to see Cancellara as an unquestionable starter having in mind last year and stories about how he prefers to spend July with his family etc.. There's not much more for him in this year's route than in last year's, especially considering his current shape.
Maybe there was a clause in his contract.

What is this? Guys-that-still-can-stand-Froome-team? Knees and Wiggo should have been selected. Also I doubt Zandio can do better than Kennaugh even if he's been ill.

I hope Cancellara uses this opportunity to go in epic breaks/sprinters upsets instead of towing the Schlecks around France for the 100th time.

and both Schlecks and Jens?

Jens is 100% sure now that this is his last season. And he has participated in the Tour as long as I remember. Don't know about the Schlecks, this could be their last season as well.

Other comfirmed teams than Sky, Lotto and Omega?

FU Trek...........

WOW, Trek trolling hard. Definitely planned from the start. Will they just throw three names out there tomorrow morning early and not include Andy? Or will they showcase Andy as a member of the tdf squad? Are they announcing just 9 or 9+3/4 reserves? Could they make Andy a reserve? Can't wait!
