Explanation of Team Sky's tour squad:

Missing Out

Eisel
Knees
Wiggins

All do not get along with Froome and are seen as part of the Wiggins brigade.

Injured

EBH
Henao
Kennaugh
Stannard

You would think these 4 would of had an excellent chance of making the squad.

So to sum up Sky are down to the bare numbers with riders left being young or classics riders. The only riders you could see ride a GT are Cataldo and Deignan but they went deep at the Giro.

Saxo's team could do some serious damage -

Contador Kreuziger Roche Rogers Hernandez Bennati Paulinho Sorensen Morkov

Sky tour team confirmed:

Froome Porte Nieve Lopez Thomas Kiryienka Siutsou Pate Zandio

Not a bad team under the circumstances but I feel they will really miss Wiggins and Kennaugh.

If Porte shows up in last years form then he will be a big help to Froome but that's not a given. If he is in top form again he's capable of dropping all bar the best 3-4 climbers on his own. Nieve, Kiri, Lopez and Thomas are strong enough to do lots of work too.

I find it interesting to see Cancellara as an unquestionable starter having in mind last year and stories about how he prefers to spend July with his family etc.. There's not much more for him in this year's route than in last year's, especially considering his current shape.
Maybe there was a clause in his contract.

He's got a TT, a cobble stage, plus the flat stages that he can go for a break in the final few hundred meters in. Only kind of stage that he could get a result in that is missing is a prologue. And cobbles aren't usually included so that kinda makes up for it.

I think he wants to use the Tour to help prepare for the hour record as well. Which he will attempt after the Tour.

So is it confirmed, will he actually try the hour after the Tour? I've heard so much he is, he isn't, back and forth, I really don't know anymore. Gave up trying to figure it out.

In light of the fact that Trek probably doesn't have any reasonable GC hopes, having Spartacus on the team might be the biggest draw for them. Regardless of whether he wins anything he'll draw some TV time.

Of course, maybe Andy will come as the 2011 Andy. Also, maybe pigs will join helicopters flying over the route.

No, because the UCI changed some rules the hour-record is no goal at the moment.

You could read in the Swiss press that Cancellara probably won't finish the tour. His biggest goal is the WC (only road race, no TT) and he'll ride the Vuelta again to prepare for that.

Cancellara can go for the yellow in the first stage. In my opinion, the final it's perfect for him.

By beating Cav, Kittel and Greipel in a bunch sprint?

Anyway its good for Trek Cancellara will be at the tour. There are some opportunities for him later in the race.

imo at least Kittel and Cav have no chance for the stage.
Should be good for Cance to attack in last km

Belkin really has a team that could do some damage on cobbles.

Although on that cobbled stage in 2010, it didn't seem to matter much whether you had a strong cobbled team or not. Most of the top finishers on that stage were climbers anyway.

Taaramäe is doubtful if he makes the Cofidis Tour team. But if he does, he will be riding for support/stages, not GC.
