I understand why Van Poppel deserves to be in the Tour but I would prefer to see him in the Vuelta: considering the horrendous sprint field from last year, he would definitely get a couple of stage wins. In the Tour it will be harder but we'll, sometimes it's just a matter of avoiding crashes and being in the right place rather than pure speed. And the kid definitely has the balls to go for it.

Belkin really has a team that could do some damage on cobbles.

Although on that cobbled stage in 2010, it didn't seem to matter much whether you had a strong cobbled team or not. Most of the top finishers on that stage were climbers anyway.

Andy Schleck profited massively from having Cancellara there (and having his brother block the road behind him). I reckon Mollema should be a bit more suited to the cobbles than Andy, put him in Vanmarcke's wheel and he could go far.

Why wouldn't Atapuma make the cut? He was 18th in the Dauphine and will probably be the last man with Tejay in the mountains unless Velits suddenly finds his 2010 shape.
Solid team from BMC by the way, I hope Van Avermaet takes a stage or two. Is it the first time he rides the Tour?

Read a comment on here stating the Sky team was confirmed for the Tour.

I'm pretty certain the team listed on here is wrong as Bernhard Eisel was left off the list.

He was on Holme Moss earlier this week accompanied by Pate & Thomas so I'd say it's pretty certain he's riding.

Can see the team been Froome, Porte, Nieve, Kiriyenka, Lopez, Thomas, Pate, Eisel & then one of Knees, Zandio, Siutsou if Kennaugh isn't in good enough shape to make it.

That's what I've heard too.

I think Kennaugh is too big a risk to take. Just too many illnesses and DNF's this season. Siutsou was climbing well at the Giro until crashing out before the draining final week and finished 4th at the Route du Sud a few days ago. He's also a close friend of Froome's. Makes sense that he goes.

The likes of Kreuziger and Bennati may well do that but I suspect that the fireworks will come from the stage hunting teams like FDJ, Europcar, Trek, IAM, OPQS and Orica. This has the potential to be an absolute cracker with the Maillot Jaune on the line.

With Sky's inability to read chaotic stages/classics this could end up hurting them early.
