Astana riding pretty hard at the front of the peloton. Maybe Nibali is feeling well. The stage is definitely suited to his abilities.

I can't even imagine that kind of scenario where sagan will not win with these guys. Geschke who is C class rider is best of the rest. So...

there are multiple teams with 2 or 3 riders and you cant pull back every attack by yourself

Tactics is one thing and other one is that you have to execute what you have planned.

By the way can anybody remember what was the race and stage where it was one Lampre guy vs. 3-5 guys from same smaller Italian team in the last kilometres? And Lampre guy destroyed them.

Will Contador try something today as he did in 2011 with the help of Samu?

I hope so.

It was a similar situation, he won Giro that year and he needed to take time. He did a good attack and he put one minute to Andy, especially in the descent. That day Andy said that Riis knew how he " works out", so he ask Contador to attack. Maybe now Contador doesnt works out the same way, but I think he will try, and I hope Nibali try with him.... I think that they have little option to succed, but If I were SKy I would mind 20 second with those guys, they dont need riks...

Rain was a big factor though, also the really fast start of that stage, non stop action.

Anyway why is astana riding? Nibali wants this stage?

Nibali, Valverde and Contador definitely have to put maximum pressure on the descent. Even if it's not raining, they simply have to put pressure on even if they don't gain any seconds. They HAVE to try, or Froome will just ride behind G. Thomas.

And Sagan really needs to stop pulling in the break.

This is one stage for Nibs or AC to force a mistake from Froome, a train cannot help you on a descent, Froome has a huge chip or fear about Contador or Nibs or Quintana finishing ahead of him and will do what ever it takes to make sure he finishes ahead of them. Well force him to take risks on the descent, which is not his bread and butter, lets see how he reconciles that fear of defeat.

To put pressure on Froome. He might do a mistake.

Ehhh why do you think???? By your logic they should just ride the descent on Froomes wheel, and make him happy.

But people should not forget that Froome isn't THAT bad at descending like Wiggins. Remeber 2013, where Contador was the one who crashed on this descent and almost took Froome with him.

I think Froome is a pretty good descender. Thing is, he is so good at ITT and climbing he never needs to go hard to take time or preserve a slender lead as he is usually quite a large distance ahead of everyone else.
