Quintana will enough time to be 1'20 behind in the GC. Meaning he would've won without the echelon stage. So we can say Froome won the Tour in Holland :D

Some of us prefer echalon stages... they make for glorious viewing.

I'm afraid Toussuire was the stage where Quintana could've gained time he'll be looking for on this stage.
But if they race Croix de Fer like they raced Chaussy and don't allow Sky to sit at the front in the valley (like they did today), Froome may find himself in trouble... May stay out of team mates and refreshment supply. But it's hard to expect a rerun in such a short time.
Too much missed opportunities on the way to Toussuire to expect a new chance, I'm afraid.

Come on Quintana, time to make a name for yourself. If only it was a 25 year old Contador having to pull back two and a half minutes.

Stage 13 of the 2013 tour (the one won by Cav after Saxo split the peleton) was the best stage that year. Echelons are the highlight of cycling. Gent–Wevelgem, need I say more :p

Sky came with Thomas, Stannard and Rowe in their 9, that decision could well have won them the tour in the first week!

There will be a breakaway, contador will attack, sky will wait, movistar will sort of go, and teklahaimanof will win the stage. 500 bucks on it.

I'll take that bet.

When you say breakaway - you don't mean one that will last ? If you do $500

Contador will aattck - and gain more than 100 yards - $500

When you say Sky - you mean Sky team - it is dissolved $500

Movistar will not go - it will just be Nairo - $500

So that's a $2,000 bet as I think you may have been certified during the writing of your last post p)

Quintana to take 2:37 from Froome. Froome to win the tour due to the 1 second he took on stage 14

:D

Would be worth it to hear Carlton Kirby completely lose control of the English language

I wasn't aware CK had any grasp of the English language to begin with.

In 2008 Sastre attacked 13.3km from the top. Quintana needs to do the same tomorrow. However, Sastre had the advantage that he was not deemed the big threat to the yellow at the time.

The point is an attack can be made so far from the finish and succeed.

That day he took 2'13" from the yellow jersey on the Alpe.

Yeah he took the yellow off Frank Schleck his teammate :). It's a race not a tea party!

That was the most dysfunctional chase group in cycling history. Evans, Menchov, Kohl, Vande Velde, Sanchez and of course Piti.

And Froome finished 31st on the stage ... 11:41 down.

Yes, nice job. My only complaint is the Vino option is considered the "other" option so you don't need both.

110km is a ridiculously short stage

Agreed, especially since none of the preceeding three were a really long stage. 186 and 161 are a reasonable length but 138 and 110 back to back is just wrong.

It is short yes, however they do need to pack the race up towards Paris tomorrow. Maybe one of the previous stages could have been longer.

Break goes, it gets caught on the Alp. Froome and Quintana break away about 5km from the top. Quintana attacks and breaks Froome 2-3km from the top and gains 20-30 seconds.

If people expect negative no balls Nairo to attack earlier then you're dreaming.

Exactly, if there was a 220km stage for stage 19 it would be a lot better.

Well, hopefully the short overall distance may prompt everyone to leave it on the road and produce massive fireworks.

Nibali and/or Contador to attack on the Croix De Fer. Either or Either to win the stage and knock Valverde off the podium by a single second.

The forum engages in a group hug filled with gregarious giggles :D

Hopefully Quintana has a "Carlos Sastre-like" day and crushes everyone and snatches the yellow from Froome and Nibali does the same to Valverde. It's too bad the gaps aren't a little bit closer, especially from 1-2, but I think with a short race, but two massive climbs and nothing to rest for, it will be explosive from the start. Hopefully we see the best stage of the Tour tomorrow!!!
