I think that's a bit simplistic. If not for Neeltje Jans I wouldn't have been surprised Froome would have tried to take more time in the Pyrenees, he decided it was settled after 1 mountain since he knew it was won.

Now of course that would have meant he used more energy as well, so it would've been more exciting, but it's not as easy as saying he lost 1:28 there so he would've been that much closer right now.

Well it's obvious now, quintana's 3rd week is really good while froome's 3rd week is average at best. Except for vuelta 2014 but that doesn't count since froome didn't start in top shape
