Let's spin it and find some history: he's the first anglophone rider to win both the overall and mountains classifications in the same Tour.
You can go a little broader. First non-continental rider, methinks.
Also, as I said, first African-born rider to win the Polka dots in the same tour the first black African rider wore it.

Why are you being so sour? It is history. Nobody claimed it was a first. You would be all over it Alberto managed it.
Lol no. Just can't stand how everything Froome does is holy in the eyes of the British Sky fanboys.

People rightfully respected him for a big achievement. One that no rider in the current peloton has achiebed.
And I have no issues with that, I was just correcting MatParker as being the 7th person to do something isn't making history. No hard feelings.

You are capable of some great and knowledgable posts, it is a pity that those standards dont get met as often when Alberto doesnt win.
Ok.

Yeah. Or that AC hasn't made history by winning all 3 GT's because he was the 5th rider to do so.
You had forgotten about Nibali, hadn't you? That's ok. So did everyone until the Croix de Fer.

Contador did it before Nibali, so to mention Nibali is irrelevant.
Come on, I didn't want to waste a mediocre one-liner. Fine, touche.

That's like saying winning the Giro-Tour double isn't history either as AC would have been the 8th rider to do so

Cambridge online dictionary
make history
› to do something important that has not been done before and will be recorded publicly and remembered for a long time:
Margaret Thatcher made history when she became the first female British prime minister.
There ya go.

Ugh, who wants to hear from a filthy British publication.

thousands upon thousands of etymologists, linguists, and word geeks, that's who.

the aforementioned are well aware of a british publication universally acknowledged to be the undisputed authority of the british, amreican, and australian english language(s). that publication is:

the oxford english dictionary
clarendon press - oxford.
