Is it just me or Bouhanni is going real slow on this - without any risks!

For the first time in his career he wants to arrive a Tour sprint without something broken

I am afraid that we will see crashes today because some of the corners seem to be extremely slippery. Those who are going for stage win definitely have to take huge risks because they can gain or lose a lot of time in the corners.

Could even be some value going with a normal road bike with clip on bars, instead of a full TT bike. Sponsors wouldn't be happy though.

It is always important to win stages at the tour, easy has that, dennis was a sure thing, they should have brought him.

Important ... most certainly. Imperative ... no, especially if its proves counterproductive to your team's prime race objective by making them play diesel on the front of the peleton early in the race when they may be better served saving their fuel tickets.

Secondly, whilst Dennis is most definitely an outstanding shorter ITTer, and has won GT prologues previously, its ridiculous to say that he ... or any other rider, is/was a "sure thing". He's not the greatest of bike handlers and may well have found these conditions challenging to say the least. Hell, for all of his "big engine", he's proven himself distinctly suspect in crosswinds/echelons. Add that to the fact that he's not really a mountain goat ...... and his overall utlity doesn't quite appear as overwhelming as one may have first thought.
