I'd think Quintana would take it even more safely. So not really any advantage.

I could only see top rider going early if the team would have multiple options for GC before the race - then it would make sense to have more time between them than 22 minutes which is the minimum between two team-mates.

Official timing suggested that Hollenstein might have crashed but seems he's fine and 5th atm.
