Aru/Bardet etc sense weakness in Froome and go mental early, Landa goes with them and doesn't have to work. Froome relies on his team to bring the break back but they fail miserably giving two-three minutes to the strong break. Landa, having rested while Astana and AG2R waste their doms and their leaders also do pulls at the front goes on the last climb and solos the last 30km putting two minutes into Aru and Bardet and three minutes into Froome.

Cue the Dumoulin/Landa battles for the next five years.
I don't think they'll try anything early. They have the perfect ramp where they have been successful in this Tour. That is the 3 km steep portion of the Mur the Peguere. That is even perfect if a few go together. It would be interesting if they have someone ahead of them to help.
I hope you realized I was joking. I am hopeful for a cracking stage but I don't think any of the top three will really move early on.

Tomorrow is Bastille Day, so is to expect a lot of frenchman in the breakaway.

Pinot, Rolland, Calmejane saved energy today so they will be there for sure.

Barguil, Voeckler are a possibility

no one in peloton attack the final climb, and if they do, will be catched in the 25km to the finish line. breakaway wins

Landa to go full Landis.
ATM Astana just lacks firepower to go crazy in the mountains, AG2R are one of the few teams that could go crazy, maybe also Cannondale.

Would be amazing if SKY manages to send a couple of riders into the break and Froome jumps just before the top of Col d'Agnes and hammer it on the downhill. Aru isn't the strongest when the road goes downhill whereas both Froome and Bardet are pretty darn fast. Not likely though, I predict super dull racing and none doing anything. Break for the win.

Aru is an underrated descender.

I have the feeling this will be good.
Depends.

Are you watching?
Probably not
Don't watch it live - record it and watch it later, and hide your phone/laptop to avoid spoilers. Watch the tennis when it's on. That way you can watch both back to back, and the cycling will be good. Foolproof plan.
Believe it or not but sadly there is no way to watch Wimbledon in austria without paying for sky or something like that. But actually that doesn't really matter anyway. The reason why I probably won't watch is because I'm on holiday and too busy chilling at the beach

Or that. That also sounds good.

The one problem with Aru having the jersey is he and Astana will chase attacks, rather than put the onus on Froome and Sky. Makes life much easier.

Astana will burn their entire team just controlling the break in the beginning. It will be Sky or AG2R in front of the field after Latrape. I agree that Aru probably won't risk much on this stage with the yellow jersey on, but hopefully Bardet will blow the race open instead. I don't expect Froome to do anything else than follow Bardet, Aru and Uran tomorrow.

If I'm Astana, I'm just racing as if Froome still has yellow. Why not? He basically does with the TT as the last stage.

Thing is Sky ain't going to be racing as if they have yellow though.

I fully expect half their team in the break tomorrow.

I'm sure Astana will be ready to put riders in the break. The really interesting scenario is if Landa gets in the break. I don't see the other teams (ag2r/cannodale) letting him get very far up the road, if that were to happen tho.

A difficult one to call. AG2R will certainly be trying to put guys down the road to help pull Bardet, he can get away from Aru or Froome on the steep pitches. Astana's team has been seriously weakened by crashes and unless Sky one of their top doms in an early break, then they might bluff and not chase on the basis that Sky, at least virtually, hold the yellow jersey due to the final time trial and the Alpine stages looking rather Froome friendly.

It will be hectic with lots of French riders trying to get away on Bastille day. Of the yellow jersey contenders, Froome looks like the one to suffer the most tomorrow, but Sky will have troops this time to limit his losses (the flat sections at the beginning and end are in their favour).

I'll go with Danny boy in a small group sprint.

Froome struggled on the very steep stuff today. Wonder, if it only was a bad day or if it was related to the gradient?
If so, there's a chance to drop him on Mur de Péguère. And I'm not convinced that Froome and Landa can go faster on the flat than Bardet, Aru and Uran, plus someone like Latour, Rolland, Talansky or someone else from the break...
