Barguil is such a one tricky pony. What a farce would be seeing Barguil win the polka dot jersey.

Where on earth does this comment come from?
Look on the previous page. Some low IQ comment that it would be a farce if Kittel won green because he is by far the best sprinter.

haha ok. I was thoroughly baffled coming back from my lunch break to find that lol

Suppose Cavendish was a shame as well?

Green jersey will always be for sprinters/puncheurs, same way the Polka dots is for climbers/escape artists. True, Sagan would probably have won it again as he's so good in both kinds of finishes - but sprinting wise Kittel is bounds ahead of everyone else in this TDF. With how dominant he's been in sprints it's ridiculous not to recognize his worth, even if you don't like him.
He can't follow a peloton in a one km climb with 5%. Cav is much more versatile than kittel. Cav is a milan san remo's winner

Real undeserving sprinters don't finish GTs, therefore they don't win the points jersey - Cipo was the best example.

Kittel is crap up climbs. Nobody's disputing that. But he'll get over them, finish half an hour down, then get to the Champs and blow everyone out of the water. Matthews could be a proper contender, but would you give it to him after winning an uphill finish and losing every other sprint badly to Kittel? Is he more deserving? Who would be at this stage?

This. Sagan is in the lead and deservedly so. That is spoken as an Australian. Green is the sprinters jersey and Kittel has been far and above the best sprinter.

Except he isn't. He's a decent climber, but he's also got good endurance to race in the break all day, he's got enough tactical nous and power on the flat to jump with the early break and he's got a decent sprint to finish it off against other riders in the break. Just because he sucks at TT, doesn't mean he can't do anything but climb.

What annoys me most about Kittel is his pathetic endurance. Cycling is supposed to be an endurance sport, but whenever he has to put in the slightest amount of work outside of the sprint or a short prologue, he fails spectacularly. He can piss off to the track already as far as I'm concerned, if he can't put in an effort of more than a few minutes.
Thanks. Kittel is lucky that prudhomme does crappy routes with 10 flat stage without anytype of climbs in the last 30 km

And Kittel is a 5-time Scheldeplrijs winner, and a world TTT champion. There are a lot of great sprinters in the peloton at the moment, who in any other era nobody would blink twice at them getting the green jersey, but because we're so used to seeing Sagan light up the transition stages, we expect his replacement to do the same.

I'm a Sagan/Kelly/Jaja fan who likes to see my green jersey go to all-rounders, but you have to respect a guy who can win as many stages as Kittel has, the way Kittel has won them. And at the same time you have to respect how Matthews has gone about picking up points on days when Kittel can't.

hahaha man your just sad right now. If kittel shouldn't win the green jersey the other riders should have done better. By far the best sprinter in the race a, and not his fault to play to his strenghs. He is a good rider and if ends up with green jersey, he of course derseves it. Kittel even has a better endurance than some of the other sprinters.

Great quality but too many egos I reckon. Porte will happily bow down, and Schleck might too, but Nibali and Quintana and Rasmussen will happier force Armstrong to go cross country again than work for him.

Better unity on team "Les Forçats de la Route" ;)

Bennet must be ill or something?

Or maybe showing the difference between a 3 week GT and a shorter stage race

He's not even in de Kittel group, thats not normal.
Bennett's ill.
Cink may be showing the 3rd week fatigue. Def not used to it.

That my point...illness is more likely if you are not used to 3 weeks ..which is all about recovery and not just racing

He's no fan of the German cycling union. He had the EU flag in one of his last team presentations.

Kloeden used to ride with an EU flag on his race numbers in the latter years. I think it was at least partly a protest against how the German fed treated Jan.

Cipo is a bad example because it's not that he couldn't finish but that he couldn't be bothered more often than not. However, bear in mind Cipo's colleagues had to deal with harsher time limits than Kittel.

I was disliking Bling a lot for his riding style, but this Tour I've started to warm up to him a lot because of his fighting and attacking spirit. Hope he wins green.
