So these crashes of Contador really costed him the GC again.

Begins to look like it. He seems very strong now at least. Perhaps he just mistimed his peak

Astana got Zeits, Kozhatayev and Valgren, the two first can keep it up for a bit, especially Zeits if they have saved him, then he will be gold worth

Looks like Contador may be working for Mollema/Pantano.

Destroy enough of the domestiques so that the two guys up the road won't be chased down.
This is funny. Almost as funny as guarantees that Dumoulin was gonna lose six minutes in last week because Nairo was untouchable on the big mountains.
Well, I guess Dumoulin only lost four minutes in the mountains the end.

Mollema in particular seems on great form though, has barely worked so far, and the descent is perfect for him. Surely he is a better bet than Contador for today.

Alberto might not win the stage, or even gain time in the GC, but he is sure as hell going to liven it up, just like he did the last time the Galibier was on the Menu in 2011.

Contador will catch the escape group soon.

Being waived past the cars already. He's grabbed them. He can chill until the bottom of the Galibier if he wants then have another go.

Re: Tour de France 2017 Stage 17: La Mure > Serre-Chevalier

so the template for this year's Tour stages is

"supposedly epic mountain followed by 30 km of useless descent that prevents people from attacking and/or neutralizes every advantage gained by climbers"

I mean,If Bardet doesnt' win this tour made exactly for him, he can retire

Contador 30-odd seconds behind chase group. They're 90 seconds down on the front two I think, yellow at 4 minutes-ish.
