I love watching the tour de france. I just wish the world tour teams had a required budget range so that all teams were competing with same budget. The Tour de France especially looks like a stage race that greatly depends on a really strong team overall in order to go for gc. I applaud Chris Froome's accomplishments hugely, but his team as a whole is so much stronger than the others, and their budget is as well.

Sky's budget is similar to Movistar and other teams aren't far off it.

It's not even close, Movistar barely have half a budget Sky has

Ummmm No unless things have changed dramatically in a year.

Fantastic win for Bodnar. Not many people predicted him to be the strongest on such course. I too thought the climb would be to hard for him, but on the contrary he was fantastic on the hardest part of the ITT. Kwiatkowski showed once again his magnificent form and Froome was just too strong for any GC contender as expected. Congrats for the TdF win. Well deserved. Uran surprised me and did a better ITT than expected. Bardet on the other hand is just a terrible time trialist. I know he's been tired but WTF was that. He was completely spent on the climb. Very good time by Contador. Although some of his fans predicted a strong performance I didn't expect him to be so close. Disappointing for Roglič. He had a gearing problem from the beginning and couldn't shift gears. His performance was completely compromised already from the start.

Read the article again, and you'll see it doesn't support what you are saying. Sky has €35m, Movistar €15m.

The final parade stage has been incredibly boring the last few years, even the Champs itself. How great would it be if Sky were to repay Landa's loyalty in this Tour by going all in to get him onto the podium. The boo boys would go home with a sore throat but it would be a fantastic spectacle for everyone else. OK I wont hold my breath.

He was bsing about how it is important to do the best and he would be happy if Uran or others did their best and ended up 53rd. Also, he is very happy because apparently Uran tried everything to win but fell short, so he feels great because of that

Haha thanks.

re booing Froome.

They booed Anquetil in 59. In the Parc des Princes. Get over it people. They booed Hinault when he was at his best. The French boo their own rugby and football teams.

That counts for 1 vote apparently.

Jury essentially overuled it. Poor degendt.

So Roglic had a gear issue? He and Uran seemed to have had similar issues at this Tour. Remember the gear issue Uran had when he oust printed Barguil in one of the mtn stages? Perhaps it's because they both ride with low gears. Or was it simply the team mechanics that dropped the ball? Whatever the case may be, Roglic still put in a respectable ride. How much time did he lose in retrospect? Somewhere between 15-30 seconds? Or is 30 seconds exaggerating? Less? More? The feed that i watched only showed him being pushed by his mechanic, but they didn't show him changing bikes or whatever else the team did.

Belgian media pushed him a lot. A big Belgian cycling talkshow as well as several big news sites asked their viewers/readers to vote for him. If you look at the tweet, almost all replies are from Belgians which tells you all you need to know.

Edit: that's also why Pauwels is relatively high up.

Uran's mechanical was a result of the crash with Porte and Martin. Martin's foot hit the rear derailleur of Uran's bike.

No doubt a great win for Bodnar. Kwia also a very good ride.

Btw Roglic only had 1 gear in the first part of the time trial.
How can this happen? They sure check the bikes before the start, don't they. Or did he crash into a barrier or something like that?
Beats me. No crash, he kept riding until the climb, he changed bikes there.

It is still better than what happened in 2014, I was really shocked when Mollema finished 135th or something like that because of wheel rubbing to the frame

French Open '80:frenchman JF Caujolle leads 2 sets and 5-2 against Connors. The public turns against him, applaudes his errors...Connors won.

But it's pointless to argue...blame the French for everything. Global warming too: they eat stinky cheese and fart like crazy ;) .

Online public voted are never quite accurate though. It could just be that Belgians flooded the vote. I mean, arsenal tend to finish top of every online poll asking "Who's going to win the Premier League", and that is certainly not the opinion of most football fans.

Barguil is a very worthy champion, but I feel that considering he ended up with two stages, a top 10 and the polka dots they could've given it to De Gendt who tried to win stages but came up short many, many times.

Rabo has always had a pretty interesting TT-history......

They had crazy highs and lows in last few years.

Rasmussen 2006 and 2007 is like the biggest gap in two time trial in the history.
Menchov won the Giro in that crazy TT, but almost lost it in the end, then whole team crashed in 2009 Tour TTT.
Menchov again being insane on 2010 Tour.
Also, we have the ridiculous bike fail on 2014 Tour followed by Roglic winning his 1st non-prologue TT in the freaking Giro without training for a long TT or something like that.
And, they failed to provide Roglic a proper bike today to finish up, I am pretty sure I am missing a few high and lowlights.
