Ten Dam in the break makes no sense. He's the only one to help Dumoulin uphill. They can't rely on Kragh.

Has any WT teams been in the break at all this week? I thought they needed funding but I guess they rather stay anonymous in the peloton.

Unbelievable this is a weekend stage. And then they wonder why nobody watches the TDF

It's beyond comprehension. My guess is that the TdF still have nice ratings and a good cash flow so they don't have to apply themselves to deliver an exciting route. Right now, it's all about which cities that pays the most. Put Zomegan in charge and he will deliver what we all want, exciting racing on beautiful stages and most of all, the Crostis-Zoncolan double!

It really is a waste of air time, when we could be watching the women's Giro which is going on parallel to the first week of the Tour.

Re: Tour de France 2018 stage 8: Dreux > Amiens Métropole 18

This type of stage should never be on a weekend.

Out of the 8 weekend stages, 4 of them are dead flat sprints?

The only two mountain stages that are on the weekends seem to be the worst ones as well.

I really don't understand this trend of the Tour to put all the crap stages on the weekend.

The cobble stage is the one exception of course.

"Marco" Minaards real name is "Marinus Cornelius"? If my name was Marinus Cornelius I'd call myself something else as well.
Apologies to any Marinus Corneliuses out there.

If my name was Marinus Cornelius, I'd insist on it... so renaissancey!

Let's hope the goal gradient and anticipation will show on the road.

Miss the Giro for the every day fights to be in the break. It was insane. In the Tour, no break survives.
But then, the Tour is the Tour.

My experience with the dutch is that seemingly every "name" is actually short for something else. Like Rens for Emerens, etc. And there's always a middle name that they don't like to talk about.

Leaving my personal experiences aside and using a public figure as an example, wikipedia says Louis van Gaal's real name is Aloysius Paulus Maria van Gaal

Wouldn't that be Marini Cornelii?

I'd buy him regardless of talent - just to sell shirts.
I know a Sally Power. Not quite the same ring to that name.

Pretty dull stuff, maybe it will make the action tomorrow seem even better. Tomorrow will be so interesting - with a number of guys losing enough time to drop completely out of the conversation in GC - but will anyone stand out or will it just be about the guys who lose out?
